Percy
Monsters stormed towards Hogwarts. There was to many too count, they covered the ground and the skies; running, flying, crawling, and slithering towards the Wizard school and the wizards that were standing ready to protect it. Percy couldn't help but gulp, even though at this point it seems like he had been in this situation to many times to count. Annabeth was standing by his side her Drakon bone sword strapped to her back and he eyes wide as well at the site before them. Harry and his friends were also beside Percy, wands out.
"We need to buy time," said Annabeth, everyone looked at her. "We can't take all of them on and expect to win. Not when we are so outnumbered, we need to stall." She looked towards Percy.
He nodded, "I might be able to buy us enough time, just hold them off for a minute." He kissed Annabeth on the forehead before turning and running towards the Aurors and the approaching army. He silently wished he had armour with him, or perhaps more weapons. As it was, he only had his jeans and Camp Half-blood t-shirt with Riptide in his pocket. He didn't uncap his sword he wasn't stupid enough to think that he could take on an entire army until the others arrived. Instead of running straight at the army he turned to the left and started in a curve towards the backend of the castle, towards the lake and the boathouse.
Running was never one of Percy's strong suits; when it came to a foot race he was pretty average. Most of the other campers could beat him hands down. However, at times like this Percy found that he could run like the wind. Fire struck the ground beside him causing him to swerve. 'Who was throwing fire around?' he thought as another ball of fire struck the ground. 'Monsters, claws and fangs weren't enough, some also get to breath and throw fire'.
Red and green lights shined behind him. The fighting it seems had begun to start, the wizards flinging spells towards the monster army. Percy continued to run, he could now see the lake and the boathouse before him. He ran even harder, all he needed was too put his hand in the water.
He crashed to his knees when he reached the waters edge. He gathered his power inside him, that familiar feeling gathering in the pit of his stomach. He tugged on that power and the lake began to rise. It was more water than Percy had ever tried to control at once, the entire lake seemed to be fighting against him as he struggled to control his power as well as the weight of the swirling water above him. "Come on," he told the lake as if it was a living breathing entity, "I need your help." Maybe it was whatever magic in the lake or perhaps it was a Son of Poseidon thing but the lake responded. It stopped resisting and soon half of the water from the lake was a swirling mass above him.
Percy left the other water inside the lake just enough to keep the creatures that dwelled inside the lake safe and comfortable. He didn't want to completely ruin the ecosystem in the lake and he made a mental note to make sure that the lake was replenished. The sensation of carrying the lake water reminded him of the time he held the sky. It was blindingly heavy and exhausting. It took most of his strength to hold it in place, the last little bit he had left he used to manipulate the water into what he wanted. Finally, Percy let out a roar and flung the water out.
The lake soared across the sky. Settling over the school forming a dome of swirling water separating the school from the approaching army. Percy let his arms drop to his sides when he was sure the dome would hold. Balls of fire sizzled against the dome above him and arrows hit it and simply bounced off. Weirdly Percy could feel every impact of every attack against his shield. It didn't hurt it was more like a light pressure.
He quickly made his way back to the school where he left Annabeth and the wizards. When he came into view he could see the look of wonder and surprise on their faces as they looked up at the swirling translucent shield above them. "What?" He said coming up, "you wanted me to stall; didn't you?"
"Wow," said Ron still staring at the dome, "I didn't know you could do that,"
"Neither did I," Annabeth smiled at her boyfriend.
"How long do you think it will hold?" asked Hermione always straight to the point.
Percy frowned up at the dome, "Depends on how hard they hit it. I'd say we have a couple hours before the magic weakens enough that it doesn't hold." As if in response a massive spear of darkness hit the shield causing a massive ripple effect over the entire dome. Percy could feel his face go white, it appeared Nyx herself was getting involved now, "Maybe an hour," he reiterated to the group.
"Until then we are going to need a plan," said Annabeth always the battle strategist, "Right now we are cornered, ripe for the picking. We need to position ourselves so that we are not only taking a defensive position but also an offensive one."
Everyone was silent for a second. Finally, Percy put up his hand, "There is secret passages under the school maybe one of those can get us in behind the army,"
Harry, Ron, Ginny, and Hermione looked at him, "How do you know about those?" asked Harry.
Percy shrugged, "They're not very secret if you know where to look,"
Ginny smiled, "He's right thought the secret passages do lead away from the school. What about the shrieking shack? If we can get into Hogsmead then that'll get us right in behind their army."
"That could work," said Percy, "How many of your classmates do you think would go with us,"
Ron smirked, "Trust us there is no shortage of students at Hogwarts that are willing to risk their lives for this school."
"Yay," a voice came from behind, "I'm in." Neville put his hand up.
Luna Lovegood stepped up as well as Dean and Seamus and some other students that had attended Dumbledore's army meetings the last couple of weeks. "Good," Percy said rubbing his hands together, "Let's get this show on the road,"
"Don't you need a weapon, Percy?" asked Harry gesturing to Annabeth's sword, "I mean, I know you're powerful and all that but you looked a little wiped after you know," he pointed towards the sky.
"Don't worry I always carry my weapon around with me," Percy took Riptide out of his pocket. He got a couple of weird looks from the wizards as he twirled the pen between his fingers; he smiled.
"What the..." Ginny started. She was pointing to something behind them, they all turned.
A monster had come up to the water shield and was staring right at Percy. Two giant axes were strapped to his back. Percy sighed as he stared back at the Minotaur, 'Of course'. Finally, he turned to the others and said, "Lets go,"
