Rainkit knew that she had surprised her sister an her 'friend'. She took advantage of it.

"Skykit! You are betraying your clan by doing this." Rainkit flicked her tail to Orangekit. "You too!"

Orangekit's eyes grew hard with rage, but it was Skykit who replied.

"Rainkit, why would you follow me? I'm not doing anything wrong."

Rainkit snorted. "Yeah. When making promises with other clan cats a part of the warrior code, I will have faded from all memory."

Orangekit stepped forward, "We aren't betraying our clans. Sure we are breaking the Warrior Code a bit, but we aren't hurting anyone."

Skykit slapped her tail over Orangekit's mouth but it was too late.

"Breaking the Code a little? You are still breaking the Warrior Code," Rainkit hissed, fury spilling over.

"Actually, we aren't breaking the Code at all. We aren't apprenticed before 6 moons. We aren't disobeying our leaders," Skykit paused as Rainkit snorted. "We aren't fighting each other, so we don't need to put our friendship aside. What part of the Warrior Code are we breaking?"

Rainkit gave an exasperated sigh. "You might not be breaking the code, but if you yowled this off of highrock, not many will approve. Just come on. I won't tell Rabbitstar, as long as you don't come back."

Skykit looked unhappy. "Can I say goodbye?"

"Fine," came the annoyed response.

Skykit turned to Orangekit and whispered, "Remember our deal. I'll meet you here tomorrow at sunhigh. Your leader will make you clean out the elders den if they are fair." In a louder voice, Skykit added, "Goodbye, Orangekit."

"Goodbye, Skykit." Orangekit mewed. "I'll remember."
