"You're back!" Celine spat as she watched us trod into their rocky den.
"Did everything go well?" Valdor asked earnestly, noticing the bruises on our bodies.
"Yeah it was a success." I reassured, shrugging my shoulders as if the whole thing was easy.
"But where's Lance?" Celine questioned, raising her eyebrow slightly.
I let out a soft chuckle. The two werewolves looked at me sideways not understanding the humor in that question.
"Well..." Delilah uttered as she tried to break it to them in a subtle way.
"Turns out he was the mutant." I bluntly interrupted. There was no use in trying to justify it, Lance was a snake.
"It's true." Delilah confirmed shyly.
"What?! Are you joking?" Valdor spat, his bright, gold eyes widening at the shocking news.
"He deceived you all." I informed the two. It's a shame that they didn't catch his act sooner.
"I can't believe this." Valdor dismayingly uttered, the hurt in his eyes were noticeable.
"Lance was like our son." Celine croaked, her voice trembling at the fact that Lance was the one causing all of this havoc in Crawdor.
"How could he... his own people?! I-I.." Celine screamed, tears flowing down her soft cheeks.
Valdor grabbed onto his wife, pulling her close to his broad chest. She sobbed silently in Valdor's embrace, clutching onto his hairy back.
"It's alright, Celine. We have each other and that fact will never change. Cheer up, okay?" Valdor said softly, comforting his lover.
"Ok. I have shit to do, can we speed this up?" I spat, rolling my deep, violet eyes at their affection.
"Seriously Slade?!" Delilah sighed as she gave me a slight push.
"...No he's right, we had a deal." Celine shrugged as she pulled away from Valdor's grip.
"Follow me." Valdor croaked. "The moon pendant is kept in a sacred place."
"Sure, just lead the way." Delilah said nonchalantly, following after the werewolves. I walked closely behind her, making sure that she gets through the barrier smoothly.
We stepped through a pristine shield designed to keep outsiders away.
"From this point onwards, you must retrieve the pendant yourselves. It's not up to us on whether you get it or not, but you knew that already. Didn't you?" Valdor questioned while he raised one of his thick eyebrows.
"Yes. I'm not an idiot. Now let me work my magic." I answered just before walking into the thick mist with Delilah's hand in mine.
The fog slowly cleared up, revealing an ancient sanctuary made of stone. In the center sat a fountain that spewed liquid gold. Mini waterfalls dripped down the walls. The water was so clear that it even sparkled.
"Wow. This place is... magical." Delilah whispered in awe. Her soft blue eyes lit up so brightly that it was almost blinding. I couldn't help but smile at her innocence. Just looking at her made me feel... warm.
And just like that, the mist came back. It was so thick that I completely lost sight of Delilah and the sanctuary itself. It was almost as if I was surrounded by many clouds.
