Dinner was awkward. The Former Alpha barely spoke to me or Cole throughout the entire night, unlike his mate. Jessica took it as her duty to watch Cole, play with Cole, spoil Cole, and do everything that she deemed as a 'Grandmother's Job'. I was okay with that, Cole seemed to love the Former Luna. He smiled and giggled and played with her throughout the entire visit.
But, I could see just how much the Former Alpha did not like me or my son. It was so extremely obvious that he wasn't fond of human mates. His dislike for Pack Alphas mating with humans was not so subtly brought up many times during our lovely family dinner.
"The last pack that had a human Luna had been destroyed quicker than any pack I have ever seen," The Former Alpha said while he cut his steak.
"Father!"
"Having a human as a mate is worse than having an Omega as a mate." The older Alpha scooped up some corn onto his spoon.
"Stop it, James!"
"Even if she were changed, she would be the weakest, weaker than any Omega." The man picked up a piece of pie.
"Father..."
"It would be better to not even have a mate than it would be to have a weak human as a mate." He placed his napkin on his empty plate.
"James!"
"She isn't even pure! She is a whore! More men have seen her body than we have in this pack! And she has a pathetic kid with some human man! Any children you have will destroy this pack!" Jess growled dangerously low at the man as he clenched his steak knife.
So, yeah. Dinner was awkward. The Former Alpha didn't like me or Cole.
I barely ate, not liking how the man spoke about me. I didn't say anything, though. I didn't want to start or egg on any trouble. But, Jessica and Jess didn't mind doing that. I honestly thought that Jess was going to kill his father, the man growled at the Former Alpha throughout most of the dinner. There were times throughout the dinner that I thought Jessica would throw a fork or a knife at her mate.
"He will act much better when we come over for Thanksgiving," Jessica promised me as she stood at the doorway of the massive pack house, her mate impatiently waiting in their car for her.
"It's okay, Jessica. I understand his worry." I really didn't, but I didn't want to worry the Former Luna. She had enough on her plate, like preparing for a new grandchild.
"It isn't. My mate rarely acts like this. I have absolutely no idea why he is so angry with you and Cole." Jessica handed Cole back to me after placing hundreds of little kisses on the giggling seven month old's chubby little cheeks.
"I do, but it's okay." I assured the woman as she backed up, promising to come by for Thanksgiving with a pie or two.
"I can't believe my father spoke about you like that." Jess angrily ripped his shirt off and tossed it to the floor somewhat close to the hamper full of dirty clothes.
"It's o-"
"Don't even finish that!" Mister Interrupting is back.
I rolled my eyes, unbuttoning my shirt like a normal human being and not like the angry beastly animal in front of me.
"But it is okay, I see where he is coming from. You, yourself have said that having a human mate is dangerous for you and your pack. He's just looking out for the pack, is all." I assured the Alpha as I tossed the shirt into the laundry hamper.
"He still had no right to speak about you or Cole like he did. Or act like you weren't even there! He really pissed me off," Jess growled, kicking his shoes off. "And he had no right at all to call Cole a bastard child!"
I didn't say anything, I agreed with Jess there. I could get over the Former Alpha speaking horribly of me, but my son? I didn't like that. Not at all. But what was I going to do? Try to fight a man, werewolf, Former Pack Alpha who could kill me quicker than I could breathe?
Yeah... No, thank you.
"I will show him that I didn't mate with someone who would destroy my pack. Mine. My pack. My mate." Jess was just grumbling and growling about how he was going to prove that his choices weren't going to ruin anything.
"You've mentioned changing me and Cole. You can do that." I suggested, walking towards the Alpha with nothing but my panties on.
"I can't do that while you are pregnant. That could harm the baby." Jess didn't even react to me being naked, he was too angry at his father.
"Well, you can do it after the baby is born," I whispered, wrapping my arms around the man's neck and pressing myself closer. I was trying to calm him down some. His anger was scaring me a little bit.
Jess sighed, placing his hands on my hips. "Yeah. I guess, but he still didn't have to talk about you two like that. If he wasn't my father and the Former Alpha, I would have killed him so fast, he wouldn't even know what hit him."
I kissed the neck of Mister Grumbly as he grumbled.
"He's just angry, Jess," I whispered. "He didn't mean it."
I didn't know why the Former Alpha was so angry, but I wasn't going to let that bother me and Jess. The man obviously had a reason to be upset and it wasn't like he could make us no longer be mates. Jess's wolf wouldn't allow that to happen, and neither would my heart.
Over the past few weeks, I have fallen in love with this man and I knew that it was due to the mate bond. I wasn't going to fight on it though. And I wasn't going to let anyone or anything try to break me and Jess apart, either. Not even my mate's father or the Former Alpha.
"Cole is sleeping, LillyAnn is home, the staff is cleaning... We could do something to... relax..." I whispered into Jess's ear before gently nipping on his left earlobe.
Jess hummed, finally looking down at me. "What do you have in mind, my little mate?"
"Well, we could make use of our bed..." I pressed a kiss to Jess's jaw.
I really loved Jess's jaw and his facial hair. I loved to feel his facial hair against my lips.
And my thighs.
"That sounds beyond perfect, my little human mate."
