Jess's POV

I rushed out to the woods, leaving my mate with my Delta, so I could fight alongside my warriors. We have been lucky enough not to have been attacked by the United States Armed Forces, but I knew that our luck would one day run out.

I just didn't think that it would have happened so soon. I didn't want to leave my pregnant mate or the little eight month old boy that I claimed as my own son behind.

I would come back to them.

What all do we know? What is to be expected? I asked Thomas, my top warrior. He wasn't on the training field today, he was out on the perimeter patrolling the border.

Human army, they've taken out a few of our men so far. I ran fast as I listened to my best man. We've killed most of the attackers, but they have helicopters coming in.

I let out a groan as Christopher joined me.

I really disliked humans right about now. The only humans that I could stand were my mate and son.

Luna and Cole are safe. Stan told me through the mind link.

Keep them safe or your head is mine, I threatened.

Yes, Alpha, Stan replied.

I shut my mind link with Stan and LillyAnn off so I wouldn't be distracted about my mate while I fought.

I sensed a presence near by and turned towards it. The human was loading a gun and I attacked, viciously ripping his head off. I never understood why humans wanted to fight with us. They were so easy to kill.

I spotted another human close by and went for the attack. These humans were coming in quickly and there were more of them than there were of us. From what I could sense, it was at least three humans for every wolf.

The humans kept firing, some from the sky while others stayed on land. My warriors and I fought for our pack, fighting tooth and nail. I was not going to let my pack be taken over by these humans. I was the Alpha of one of the strongest packs in the world, we wouldn't lose easily.

I saw my Gamma take down a few of the human soldiers before another came up to him. The human was easily taken down by another warrior of mine.

The humans had the numbers and they had safety in the air, but my pack and I were the best, these humans would lose soon. This war would be over within minutes.

Christopher was shot from one of the airmen in the sky. The shot crippled my Beta, but he never stopped.

I growled at the humans in front of me, showing my massive canines. My eyes were a bright color of red, signifying that I was the Alpha of this pack and that I was mad.

These human soldiers didn't let their fear show, instead, they aimed their guns and shot at me. I was hit several times, but did that stop me? No. I had a pregnant mate, a son, and a pack to fight for. My fight wouldn't be over with until I had either won or I had died.

I snapped at the humans as I advanced towards them. I snapped my jaws as they continued to fire at me.

"We've found the Alpha!" one of them called into their walkie talkie on their shoulder. "And he is mad!"

I leaped towards the man, clamping my teeth around his shoulder so he could feel the pain before he died. I swung the human around, hitting the other soldiers, before I tossed him over. The human had hit a tree and was most likely dead.

I turned to look at the other soldiers, they were getting back up on their feet.

"Joe is dead! The Alpha is mad!" a female soldier yelled into her walkie talkie.

I have never killed a woman, but I was tempted to.

"Go find the Luna!" the same woman yelled, again, into the walkie talkie.

I growled even louder, dangerously loud, as the woman spoke about my mate.

Did they not think that we could understand them? Idiots.

I didn't think twice before going for the kill, killing the last three of the humans in this little group.

No one, and I mean no one, will threaten or harm my mate.

Keep Anna safe! I mind linked all of my warriors on the field. They are going after her!

I heard Andrew's howl in the distance, he must have been closest to the pack house and my mate.

More humans descended into my woods, firing like crazy at myself and my warriors.

It might have just been me, but it seemed as if they were all aiming at me more than any other wolf.

I could hear my warriors fighting, growling at the challenges that these humans were giving them.

The fire power from above intensified greatly, their bullets were actually starting to hurt. I continued to fight through the pain, my victory was just in sight. There was no way that these humans could continue fighting with what they had for much longer.

They are using silver and wolfsbane! one of the warriors mind linked.

Well, crap. That was not good. Not many things could successfully harm a werewolf. Silver and wolfsbane were two of the not many things.

Thomas is down! They shot him with a dart! Sanders mind linked.

These humans were playing dirty! Well, they were playing smart, I guess.

I leaped through the woods, pushing the humans back and off of my land. We were going to win, even with the silver and wolfsbane being used.

I dodged many of the bullets and darts that were coming my way. I was going to end this, once and for all.

"Be careful of the Alpha! The Beta, Gamma, and Delta have got to be somewhere!" I heard a voice whisper.

I quickly followed the noise before attacking. Christopher and Andrew have yet to show who and what they are, or the humans who have seen it weren't able to tell anyone else.

I jumped over a fallen tree and onto an unsuspecting human soldier.

He was alone. Stupid move, human.

I quickly killed this human, not caring about anything but protecting what was mine.

I shook off some of the blood off of my coat as I listened for more humans near by.

I couldn't hear anyone, but I could smell something that wasn't quite right. It didn't smell like a human, but it didn't smell like it belonged here.

I narrowed my eyes as I looked around, trying to find out just what it was.

When I noticed it, it was too late.

The human in disguise took the shot.
