When the cold war ended how did you think the nations reacted? Most of them would be relieved it was over, but to you ever felt like they had this growing sense of apprehension? The world only had one superpower. For the first time in a 500+ years. Not only that, but the said superpower defeated an empire to become the world leader.
And in Hetalia America is a 19 year old kid. He works hard and he will do his shit, but he's 19. How scary is that? How many times do you think they looked at Alfie and thought, "He's running the world" while he does some stupid stunt?
Also do you think that the people who have stayed with him don't worry? Because they have seen him be an idiot, but they also have seen him work. ((In the comics there is a lot of comics of his work environment showing he has forgotten to eat at times, has 2 weeks of vacation time.))
