Chapter 25

Nico's POV

Thals is awake. Before I was even able to see her I was hit with some bad news. They say that she is indeed paralyzed waist down and will no longer walk unless going through a life threatening procedure which is not recommended. But hey at least she's alive.

I walk into her room and see her. Her blue eyes bright in the light and her lips smiling for the first time in forever. And at that moment I felt the most amazing. The girl of my dreams was okay and will always be okay. I will never let anything happen to her again.

We stare and smile before she finally speaks.

"Nico. I need you to know that I absolutely love you so much. You don't even know. I don't know why I stopped loving you. You are honestly the most kind and caring person there is."

"Thals. I love you too. I never stopped I kept my distance not to hurt you but to punish myself for losing the girl of my dreams."

And in that moment we shared our first kiss in 7 months. 7 hard months of not even knowing if she was alive. It was the best gift I could have asked for.

"Nico. Why are you all dressed up?" she asks after we pull away.

I quickly tell her about Artemis and what happened and the funeral and about Conner.

"I feel so bad. Maybe I never stopped loving you. Maybe Aphrodite just made me think I did. But that was in the past. I love you now and that's all that matters. Also thanks for the bracelet."

"Oh you're welcome. Happy late Christmas."

The nurse walks in with a wheelchair and tells Thals she needs to get used to it and pushing herself around. But I agree to push her for the first few weeks. Soon enough I am wheeling her out of the hospital and back to camp.
