Unknown Pov
They had dropped them off in the middle of the night, these two precious little twin boys. I don't understand how they could want to give up their newborn children, but I've heard enough stories to know that the parents must have done something terrible to get caught up in this new program. No one would willingly subject a baby to this pain and torture, after all we don't even know if this will work.
They've put them in small cribs, the type you find in hospital's, and they each have a small tag attached with a name on them, I'm not sure who named them, the lead doctor on the project or if their parents got a say in at least one thing, but either way they seem to be stuck with these. I flick the tags so i can read them, one of the boys seems to be named Hunter, his hair is a dirty blonde. The other is Taylor, funny name for a boy, and he has hair that is darker than Hunters, hanging between brunette and dirty blonde.
The blonde one opens his small eyes and gazes up at me, sensing the loss of his parents he begins to whimper, then cry. I reach out my hand to touch him, to comfort him in some way, but i am stopped by a cold voice behind me.
"we are ready" he says holding up the two metal syringes that contain the DNA.
"its time to get this over with"
"you're right" i reply "there will be plenty of time to meet the babies later..." i don't have to finish the sentence because at that moment i know we are thinking the same thing if they survive...
I walk to him and take one of the syringes. Together we approach the two children. We glance at each other and then gently push the needle into their arms and push the contents into them.
Checking the monitors on the wall beside them we immediately see progress, the two DNA seem to be mixing correctly. We can only hope that it will work.
