Chapter 18 : blood (part 1)

"Do you know what's going on?" Jase asks an agent hurrying down the hallway.

The guy could hardly catch his breath to speak. "No, but we will be informed soon." After speaking, he rushed away again.

Jase lets out an infuriated sigh, gets in our office, and closes the door behind him. "Why aren't we informed? We are one of the best teams! We should have been one of the first few that were informed," he huffs angrily. At the same time, Elias comes in, and we all jump to our feet.

"We need all of the forces gathered now. Get ready. Take whatever you need with you. Juliet, you will stay here. You'll be the only one left in the base. It's safer for you since you are not a field agent. Gather in the entrance and hurry up." And with that, he leaves the room.

We all start gathering stuff and I help them at it. Ash kisses my forehead, picks up the backpack I readied for him, and walks out of the office, with Lizzy and Jase following him. After a moment, the noise coming from the door ceases, and I instantly know that they're gone.

I walk into Elias's office (the biggest and prettiest office of all- I'm still setting traps for him so I can inherit the damn thing) and pick up his laptop to check the email that was sent to him so I can figure out its origin.

It takes me about forty-five minutes to trace it, and I put my hand over my mouth to prevent myself from screaming when I see where it's from.

A big, bold 'M' fills the screen and I instantly recognize it. Mezdurs did this, and when they plan something, it's something big.

Hal, the monster who raped me and killed the only woman I ever called mom, also worked for them. Which means that I am royally screwed.

I immediately try to hack more of their files to find out what their plan is so I can help Ash and everyone else and also save my own ass in the process.

When I tried digging deeper, I noticed something else. A cold layer of sweat covers my body when I recognize what it is. All of our files – the files that the main base sent us – they've had them for over a month.

Including my files.

Breaking Hal out of prison, sending Ash's stepfather to finish what he started – they planned it. All of it.

I stop breathing when I see a familiar face walk in from the entrance door through the monitor.

All the doors were locked by Elias himself. Even the best hackers couldn't have gotten in.

Someone must have opened the door from the inside.

A second later, all of the monitors turn black, leaving me unaware of where he is. The lights, however, remain on. I pick up Elias's laptop as I jump out of my seat, looking around to find something to defend myself with.

I literally jump out of my skin when his voice booms through the speakers. "Knock knock Juliet. You've grown."

It's the same voice. The same voice that haunted me ever since I was a child.

"I see you Juliet." His voice is vicious, yet amused.

He's enjoying this, I think, and dread fills my stomach as the camera installed in the room swivels until it's focused on me.

"I see you."

hello guys againnn!!!! another chapter and another scar. a few of those we know will die and some of them we even love. but for the next chapter, Hal is a killer and so is Juliet when it comes to it. who will survive the dark base now that there is proof that there is a spy among them? a few villains, a few heroes and some people in between. but the dead will make sure that none of them stay the same.

and trust me, in part two, there will be blood.
