i'm sitting on the edge, a thousand stars burning in the sky up overhead, and it made me think: when in my life have i ever felt more infinite?

THE EXCHANGE BETWEEN Green and Jinyoung was much thought about, but not talked about to anyone at all, not even Hoseok.

Green had nothing to hide from Hoseok. Nothing she thought was really worth hiding anymore, since her confessions would bring relief and comfort more than anything. Yes, she trusted him a lot, and she had trust issues for a long period of her life.

But this? Jinyoung knowing about the body switching when she was nearly convinced that they weren't switching anymore?

How? was all she could muster to wonder. All she could fathom. How could he know if he's never around us?

If she and Hoseok ever were to switch again, maybe then she'd tell Hoseok. But until then.

It wasn't like she thought Jinyoung would tell anyone, being the quiet guy he was— and if he did, that would be a very thoughtful move on his part. Everyone would buy his insanity spoken in a very sane tone, knowing how he talked. Scientists would spend trillions of won to experiment on their brains and accidentally kill them, their money would be a total waste and bankrupt Korea, and no one would ever truly understand the fictional-gone-nonfictional supernatural phenomenon.

But maybe it's not him who actually knows, she thought as it occurred to her. Maybe it's someone else, and that person has evidence that made Jinyoung-ssi believe and... that's worse.

The day before she went to school again, Green bumped into Jungkook again at the convenience store where they first unconventionally met. The two never really talked, even at that moment, but this was a bit more than ordinary.

They exchanged their friendly hellos and how-are-you's, comforted at the instant ramen they both planned to get.

"Did you spend your break with Hobi-hyung?" he asked. Green nodded, a bit shyly, and he nodded back just as shyly.

"Yeah. What about you?"

"My break's been a little weird, to be honest," he confessed, tilting his head to bend and crack his neck. It must've been stiff. He was probably sitting in his gaming chair playing video games the entire winter break.

She picked up that he might've wanted to expand on that, as she prompted, "What do you mean?"

Jungkook sucked in a breath. It was slow, steady, and Green noticed his Adam's apple bobbing when he swallowed. "I think this was a dream, okay? Even though it felt real. But it couldn't be. Just— don't think I'm crazy."

"I won't."

"You probably will."

"I swear I won't, whatever it is," she asserted in protest. "Believe me."

He eyed her and only saw sincerity in her expression. Jungkook scratched behind his ear, biting his lip. "Okay. In my dream, which was a while ago, even before the break... I switched bodies with this guy at your school."

Holy shxt.

"I could tell by the uniform. It was weird because I've never met him before and I don't think I've seen him either, but I got this banging headache a couple of days ago and usually when that happens we just, well, switch. So then I thought, maybe this is all real? But I mean, we were doing the impossible? I tried to think over it many times—"

Green's ears refused to hear the rest; his words were a forceful blow to the gut.

Is Jungkook really saying these things? Did my switching situation... pass onto him?

Trying her best to regain her lost composure, she blurted, "Wait, Jungkook."

He abruptly stopped, and then turned sheepish. "Yeah, I'm not making any sense, am I? It just felt really surreal, all of it, and maybe I should talk to Jimin-hyung about this. Even though he can be a bit useless sometimes."

She could've been thankful for how much he was talking to her, but her mind was too laser-focused on the current thoughts in her mind. "No, we need to talk soon about that. Saturday. Hoseok's house. We also need to find the guy you switched with and talk to him too."

Jungkook's eyes bulged for a moment before he uttered a staggering, "What?"

The door opened with a jingle, and the cashier gave the new customer a habitual welcome. Jungkook and Green both shivered at the gust of wind that blew inside. When the customer walked down their aisle, Jungkook's eyes went wide as he nearly dropped his ramen cup, lips parted in shock.

Bewildered, Green twisted her hips and saw fate.

There was Jinyoung, glancing up once and teetering on his crouched leg, losing his balance. He stumbled on his words, gasping, "You— you two know each other?"

"No, this can't be real," Jungkook rasped, demanding for an explanation with his eyes.

Green was itching to call Hoseok over, but here wasn't the right place. The best place was honestly her empty, empty house.
