Release The Tension

Rhett and link were having the most amazing sleep they had in ages, only each other's body heat keeping them warm as the sheets were so thin.

The door opened.

"Oh.. Okay I wasn't expecting you to still be in bed with link.. I checked on link last night and saw you were cuddling him but..... Uh Anyway, I need to do one last check on you before you leave okay." the nurse smiled slightly embarrassed.
"uh yeah I guess that's f-fine.. Can Rhett stay w-with me? Links sleepy voice asked," yes of course. "

Rhett climbed off the bed and onto the uncomfortable chair next to him, they both immediately missed the coziness of each other's heat as the cold air settled on their bodies.

The nurse brought out a metal pull-along tray with many intimidating utensils, as she gave him blood tests etc.. Rhett stopped link from scratching his cuts. He winced when the last needle went in, because his veins were so weak and narrow from all the previous tests and it made his vein collapse. The nurse apologised as his arm started to bruise where the blood pumped up to the surface of his skin. "Luckily it just needs time to heal.. Again I'm really sorry, that usually only happens on the elderly." the nurse said, and link let out a small laugh while holding rhetts hand.

"well, now that we are all done, you can finally go back home! Now then, I have given Rhett the medication so we have anymore trip ups again, he will give you your 2 pills every day. And you will be starting therapy on Thursday. I'm really glad you have someone like Rhett, he really is something special." the nurse smiled

Rhett hugged links skinny body almost blushing from what the nurse said, and she waved goodbye for the last time, then closed the door behind her.

Link started to sit up from his bed, but rhett stopped him as if he were made of glass, he scooped the weak man up wedding-style and put him into the wheel chair that was in the corner of the room.

Rhett grabbed his backpack, made sure link was comfortable and pushed link out the dull hospital room finally.

After Rhett checked them out the log book, they went through the exit doors and into the warm air outside, link squinted his eyes as they adjusted to the harsh sunlight, but then embraced the beautiful outdoors he forgot he missed so much.

There was a park near the hospital, and as Rhett saw how much link was enjoying the out doors, he took him there instead of straight home.

" T-that's not the way to your house Rhett." link pointed out, but Rhett kept going, keeping it a surprise for him.

Eventually the two stopped under a huge oak tree on a hill with a view of the whole city in front of them.

"R-R-Rhett it's.. It's.." Link was literally speechless, he felt so loved, so free, all of his horrible thoughts vanished, and it was just celestial.

"i know linky, how about you stand up then, but don't worry I will will hold you" Rhetts heart was filled with love and happiness again, seeing his soul mate look so much healthier.

Link grabbed on to rhetts arms and shakily pulled himself up. His toes ran through the long green grass and he stretched his muscles out for the first time properly in weeks. "I-i love you s-so so much.. Like.. You have g-got me through life since I was a little kid! I don't know how to show how much I love you.. But I-i really do!" link didn't realise that his eyes were pouring out tears, he felt so overwhelmed with emotions.

"Link, we have done this together, I know exactly how much you love me, and it's true that there is no word for it! I love you the same, I would die for you 100%, I love you more then anyone, even Jessie!"

They cuddled there for over 4 hours watching the sun go down until rhett realises link is now fast asleep, flopped onto his lap.

Rhett gently picked link up and put him back in the wheel chair.

They went home, finally feeling that slight release in tension from their unhappy lives.
