Luke x reader||thats how it works

You were naturally curious, being a child of Hephaestus you loved to see how things worked, and try new things.
Along with curiosity came many questions, you questioned everything.
Usually your questions were why, and you usually asked it when given orders.
But mostly you used with with your boyfriend Luke, and his answer was always the same.
"Coz that's how it works."
Then you'd scoff and roll your eyes.
You weren't scoffing nor were you rolling your eyes when you were in a head to head battle with Luke.
You were infuriated that this is ho it had to be, he decided to turn to kronos' side; and now he was paying the price.
He wasn't your Luke, not anymore.
His playful demeanour and kind attitude were gone.
"This isn't the same as training y/n!" He shouted.
"One of us will actually die this time."
You knew this, but you didn't want to accept it.
"And you can bet your ass it won't be me!" You swung your sword but to no avail.
"I missed leaving you, do you know that y/n?"
You shook your head an continued fighting.
"No! You're lying."
"I'm not y/n, I missed you so much; it took so much to leave you."
Another plunge, you moved out of the way.
"I miss holding you in my arms, and I miss our late nights, I miss it all."
You kept fighting, to your best ability. But now your vision was blocked by tears.
"Then why?!! Why'd you do it? Why'd you leave me?! Huh?" You lunged forward.
"Why'd you leave me wondering what I've done wrong? Why'd you make me feel like it's my fault? Why?!" Your dropped to your knees and fell on the ground.
"Because that's how it works." He replied.
You braced yourself, accepting death from the only person you've ever love and felt loved by.
But it never came.
You opened your eyes slowly only to see Luke's back as he walked away.
