Rain

Water poured from the sky as I walked down abandoned streets. Windows of the shops and houses were all boarded, the doors were locked and blocked with anything and everything to stop them from blasting open. I was avoided like a plague, although it was nothing new to me. I was indeed a demon that plagued whoever was near it. My mother died soon after birth, while my father was taken and tortured to the point of death before my eyes around the age of ten. I had tried to live a peaceful life, but life proved to me it was in all in vain. I soon after moved to an abandoned town.

After several years...

I was found by a boy traveling alone to visit abandoned cities and towns. To him, these empty places had more meaning than ones brimming with life.  He told me some places he had visited were being taken over by nature and reverting to how the land once was prior to humans. The bright smile he wore amazed me to no end, never had i seen such a smile due to the misfortune I carried. And with that thought, I did all I could to make him leave me in the abandoned town, to make him escape my misfortune while he could, but he insisted on staying with me to study how I lived in a town with no running water, power, or shops. After a few days of heated arguments and a week of silent treatment, I agreed, more like gave up on trying, to let him stay.

Several months later...

Nothing bad had happened as of late, which I was thankful for. The boy, whose name I learned to be Aaron, didn't seem to be ill in any way, although I keep a close eye on him in case he was lying to me. The days have grown shorter as winter rushed summer, which meant I had to leave the town more often to gather wood and other supplies for months of cold and snow.

Midwinter...

Aaron and I have moved out of my apartment into one of the houses. Aaron is on a trip to a near by cities for supplies we couldn't get in town, since all the paths to the other abandoned towns were covered in snow already. He's been gone for several weeks already, and I'm growing concerned. Thoughts of the worst that could happen raced through my mind and kept me from sleep and food. For weeks, I thought he had used me and was waiting an opening to leave. At first, sorrow took reign over my mind and left me in a cold bed in a cold house during the coldest time of the year. It had been a while since I was last sick, though this time it didn't matter whether I recovered or not. All I wanted was for Aaron to come back and sooth my mind.

Christmas Eve...

It's the day before Christmas and I couldn't take it anymore. I set out to forest for the last time with rope and ladder trailing behind me, leaving tracks in the snow. I shiver, my old clothes worn out from the years I've used them. Midway to where I picked to give away the horrible life that was handed to me, I heard a voice that made my heart flutter and break at the same time call my name. Warm arms cocoon around my shivering body, stopping my movement and halting my mind. Ice cold tears force their way out and race down the sides of my face as sobs rip through, the numbness I had build as a defensive measure shattered and shook me out of my nightmares. His warm words sooth my mind as I thrashed in his arms, begging to be released so I could fulfill what I had set out to do. My screams were silenced when he turned me around and held me close to his chest.
