It's been 2 weeks now since Jungkook has been at the school and roomed with me.
On one particular day, I was extremely tired but I went to the gym in the early morning and Jungkook followed.
While I hit the treadmills, he went straight to weights and cardio. He's actually pretty fit and muscular.
Probably even more than me.
After about an hour, some girls came in and immediately approached me and Jungkook. They were the ones who usually just stuck around to watch their oppas work out and look manly.
"Jimin oppa! Can you help me out on stretching?" one of them asked, bouncing up to me with energy.
My body was sore all over but I ignored that and nodded with a smile.
Before long, that girl claimed that it was easier being taught with me and that she felt refreshed. That was what triggered the onslaught of girls asking me to personally teach them too...
After a wasted hour of my energy and time, I rubbed my neck and traveled back to the dorm room with Jungkook. He didn't speak the entire time and I was beginning to wonder what was up with him until he finally broke his silence when we were in our room.
"Why do you do that?" he asked in a voice I couldn't quite distinguish the emotion to.
"Do what?" I inquired, confused and beginning to head to the bathroom for a shower.
He moved in front of me and blocked my path, staring into my eyes.
"When was the last time you let go and just smiled?" he asked strangely.
"What?" I replied as a matter of factly, not seeing where he was going with this question and just wanting to shower and sleep.
"Jimin," he said, the urgent tone of his voice getting my attention.
His eyes bored into mine with an air of seriousness and he gripped onto my shoulders.
"When was the last time...you didn't hide your pain behind a facade?"
"WHEN YOU SMILE," he continued with a raised voice, an agonizing look on his face.
His voice lowered to barely above a whisper.
"Behind it all...you're suffering alone and carrying the burdens."
I looked into his eyes, seeing the bullet-like gaze of his that was dead serious. My hands began to tremble and I had to ball them into fists to stop.
I averted his gaze and peered down, my breath quickening.
He can tell. He can tell that I'm not really smiling.
That when I appear innocent, I'm shriveling up inside and throwing my soul away to an abyss in exchange for admiration and love.
That I get hurt by words and actions just like everybody else but choose to swallow it down painfully like an unwanted pill without another word.
That even though I have a heart, I'm less of a human...
And more of a robot.
Jungkook placed his hand under my chin and tipped my face back up, his eyes glistening.
"Don't look down...," he whispered, his hand leaving my chin and resting on my cheek as a warm touch. "Look at me..."
"So I can be the one who protects you."
A/N: A short little chapter to make up for the slow update from last time :) I was going make it longer but I felt like it was more impactful this way. T^T that moment when even I get emotional about my own story chapter, fufufu
