I pushed his hand away.
"You don't know me," I said in a quiet voice.
My eyes filled with tears, forming a glossy sheen.
"So stop acting like you do."
Jungkook wasn't fazed and his relentless gaze never let up. I took a few steps and tried to move past him but he pulled me back, blocking my way out.
"What makes you think I don't?" he replied, turning my attention back to him. "When all you're doing is trying to forget about your past and yourself, how do you even know who you are anymore?!"
"Let... go," I said, my voice low but adamant. "You may know my past, you may know my name. But I'm not that Jimin anymore..."
"You're right," he said. "I know about your past and everything about you. I know more about Park Jimin than anyone else!"
He paused.
"Even more...than your current self."
"THIS IS THE PERSON I AM NOW," I shouted, pulling away from him forcibly. "How I live my life isn't your concern."
"IT IS MY CONCERN," he yelled back.
His anger turned to sadness.
"It is my concern...when you're living as nothing more than a ghost of a person seeking love and care with no regards to how you're treated."
I didn't say anything and unraveled my balled up fists, an indent forming from my fingernails on my skin.
"I may be a ghost," I whispered. "But a ghost is better than the dead who fall from their own demise and never get up."
The look in his eyes immediately changed.
"Then your way of getting up... is to kneel down to other people?" he said with a cracked voice. "Why live a fake life as a coveted being when you could very well be human?"
A moment of silence rang throughout the room, a wisp of wind blowing in from an open window.
"When you're treated as a loner and an outcast of society, isn't that as good as being dead?" I whispered, a tear dropping from my eyes. "Do you know how it feels to be unwanted and alone in the world?"
I looked away and blinked the remaining tears away.
"Of course...you don't."
I pushed past him, taking a few steps out of the kitchen and towards the door.
I reached for the door handle, feeling the need to get out and clear my head.
But...he stopped me.
His hand brushed over mine and held it tight in midair, inches away from the door.
Warm...
"You're not alone," he said. "You'll never be alone..."
"Because you have me."
