"SO you finally realized it."
Joshua firmly nodded as Jeonghan stated those words. Joshua told the whole thing happened last night except Joely's story behind her downcast state. He also mentioned the realization he had before he went home, carrying the sleeping Joely on his back. He smiled by thinking at that little moment he had with her.
It was early in the morning that Joshua and Jeonghan went in the park near their neighborhood for a jog.
"I was unsure of it. But because of her sudden disappearance recently, I felt incomplete." Joshua said with a little pant produced while jogging. He was side by side taking the jog with Jeonghan.
"And I want to add that you miss her unconsciously."
"Nope. I admittedly missed her. I just did not know that I felt more for her. I just found myself thinking of her and I can't help to feel afraid when I know that something's wrong going on her." Joshua straightforwardly countered. Realizing the words he just said to his best friend, he sheepishly brushed his nape. "Doesn't it a little cringy? It's a kind of cheesy to talk about it."
"It's more cringy before when you were talking about Jenny." Jeonghan frankly said. "And I'm used to you being a lover boy." He then craned his neck to show his best friend a teasing smile. "But don't worry, I won't mind since we're talking about Joely now. I like her more than Jenny for you."
Joshua felt like his cheeks were suddenly burning. He couldn't believe that he was feeling like that because of someone else—not Jenny. He turned his head to the side in embarrassment because Jeonghan might notice his reddened cheeks—if they really were. He knew that Jeonghan was teasing him that he finally realized that he liked Joely. "Wait. Is it unfair that you know someone I like? You never mentioned anything about yours." He countered.
"There's no one," Jeonghan responded. "Well.. recently.. there is."
Joshua smiled. "Who is she?"
"Not important."
"Really? Isn't she your childhood friend?"
Jeonghan pursed his lips, giving a vague response showed that he's reluctant to say anything. He just looked at the side to avoid his friend's gaze. "Just.. just don't ask mine. I still can't find the girl for me."
Joshua just let out little nods in surrender. "I understand."
"Anyway, about that bruise thingy, did she just have that last night?" Jeonghan asked, changing the topic that he did not want to talk about. "I mean, I met her before but she did not have those bruises."
Joshua gnawed his lower lip. A sudden worry came running in him as Jeonghan mentioned the bruises Joely had. "Maybe she just got those last night when she and her father fought."
"And what is the reason why they are quarreling?" Jeonghan asked in curiosity.
Joshua kept silent for a moment. He did not know if he would tell Jeonghan the whole story. Yes, Jeonghan was his best friend. But he thought that he did not have the right to tell him about somebody's business. "I couldn't tell you anything, Jeonghan. I'm sorry."
