Chapter 17 – Your Choice

"I'm looking at her, getting farther away

"IT'S just like your room in Seoul." Joely commented, roaming around Joshua's room.

"It's my style." Joshua said while hanging his bag behind the door.

Joely sighed. "I miss Seoul. I miss Jeonghan, too. How is he?"

Joshua smiled. "He's good. He got a job already."

"Wow."

"Anyway, just sleep on my bed and I will sleep here on the floor, like the usual." Joshua said, getting the sleeping mat and blanket from the cabinet.

"That's expected already, Mr. Gentleman."

Joely plopped on Joshua's bed then she rolled her body there. Joshua, on the other hand, was busy setting up the sleeping mat where he would sleep. He then grabbed two pillows from his bed. After doing so, Joshua went to the bathroom to change his clothes.

After the reconciliation they had back in the amusement park, they ate first in one of the food stalls in there for a dinner. Joely asked Joshua if she could stay in his house for a night. Joshua wondered but Joely reasoned that she did not want to see her mom for awhile. Joshua thought that something was still wrong between Joely and her mom. In the end, Joshua allowed Joely to stay in his house for awhile. It's not new already to him since they used to be like that back in Korea. It's just that, it's been a long time since then.

As Joshua finished changing his clothes and went out of the bathroom, he smiled while seeing Joely lying on the bed. She was busy looking something to her phone.

When Joely noticed Joshua's presence, she looked at him. She smiled as she saw that handsome face he had. "Why?"

"I'm just glad." Joshua answered while walking towards the sleeping mat where he would sleep. He sat down on there while facing Joely.

Joely giggled. "I'm happy, too."

"Joely?"

"Hmm.."

Joshua pursed his lips. There's a lot of questions that he really wanted to ask but he did not know how to start.

"Why?" Joely asked with her creased forehead.

"Joely..." Joshua started. "Why... why did you leave? Why did you not say anything? Why... why are you engaged again with... Jun?" Joshua consecutively asked, uttering the last word in a lower voice.

Joely fazed that she looked at the side in order to avoid Joshua's gaze. She did not know how she would say her reasons. "I have no choice."

Joshua's brows furrowed.

Joely turned her gaze back to Joshua. She looked directly into his eyes. "My family's indebted."

"What?"

"My mom is indebted to Jun's family."

"S-so... is that the reason why you need to be engaged with Jun?"
