I was already hurling myself into Kyle's car by the time 6:30 rolled around.
Kyle drove me and Isabella to the nursery where I dropped her off with Abbey and told her about what had happened.
She took Bells off with her and Kyle and I continued off towards the school.
Once we reached the school the clock on the dashboard was reading 7:20 and I knew I only had a matter of minutes before classes started.
Kyle parked his car close to the entrance and we both got out and he walked with me towards my locker.
At one point I heard a voice call out for Kyle and we both stopped and turned to find Greer making her way towards us. She was wearing a skin tight Aero shirt that made sure to display as much cleavage as possible and a studded miniskirt that hardly covered her cheeks. I was surprised she was allowed to come to school like that, much less not get kicked out.
She also made sure to wear 5 inch stilettos which I could hear clicking away on the schools floor.
She came up to me and Kyle and made a show of throwing herself on him and shoot me a dirty glare when she knew he wasn't looking.
I scoffed as she turned to Kyle and began to talk to him and left them alone making my way towards my locker.
I wasn't paying much attention of where I was going when I bumped into someone. We both fell on the floor and books scattered around us and I knew they belonged to other person.
I looked up and saw a girl, with fiery red hair and emerald green eyes that popped with the color of her hair.
I leaned across from where I was and grabbed a textbook I saw lying close to me while the girl picked up the rest.
We both stood up and I quickly said, "I'm so sorry."
"Oh no worries. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I'm new here. My name's Allie."
I smiled at her as she rambled on to tell me she was sorry and I cut her off as I spoke to her.
"Its fine promise, I wasn't looking either. I'm Kylie."
I saw her smile and her next words took me by surprise.
"We'll Kylie, you're the first person to be nice to me since I stepped foot in here."
"What classes do you have?" I asked, feeling sorry that this girl was being picked on.
She handed me her schedule that she had just picked up from the main office and I scanned the paper over and saw that we had all but 2 classes together. I quickly proceeded to tell her that we had all but 3rd and 6th period together and she asked me if we could walk together.
"Yeah sure,” I responded.
"Aren't you going to get your books?" she asked me when she realized that I wasn't carrying anything.
I shrugged and we both made our way inside the History class.
The first few classes pretty much breezed by. Allie and I talked a bit and I somewhat introduced her to Kyle and Jake.
By the time lunch rolled around I entered the cafeteria, next to Allie and she looked around and we both noticed that several eyes were looking in our direction.
"Why is everyone starting?" I heard her ask me.
"Probably because not very many people like me and they're wondering who the heck is crazy enough to hang around me." I said quietly beside Allie as we made our way to an empty table towards the back.
Once we sat down Allie sat beside me and began to talk.
"Your an amazing person it's hard to believe people don't like you."
That same minute I saw three silhouettes shadowing over me and when I looked up they were no other than my three best friends.
Once they all sat down I began to formally introduce all of the boys to Allie.
“Allie this is Kyle, he is the star quarterback football player, and he’s my best friend.” I pointed at Kyle while talking about him. I did the same thing as I went through the other two boys.
“This is Austin, who is the captain of the basketball team and a dear friend of mine and lastly, this is Jake, who is my other best friend. No sports.”
Allie looked at me and then asked looking quite confused, “Don’t you have any girlfriends?”
“You’re kidding right? If it weren’t for these three I wouldn’t make it out alive of the school, much less have any girlfriends.”
The rest of the day passed by like a strong breeze. Allie and I continued to get closer during the day and by the time it came time to leave, we both parted ways and I went to my locker remembering to get my skateboard out before leaving.
Everyone in the school knew I could skateboard, a couple of times when I’ve run late I’ve skated to a couple classes and at this point most teachers don’t bother to ask, but nobody has truly figured out that I am ‘Kylie Johnson’ Skateboard Extraordinaire.
I made my way to Kyle’s waiting car in front of the school and he quickly began to drive the two of us towards the nursery.
Kyle got out of the car with me instead of waiting outside like he usually does. I had him walk beside me since he’s never actually been inside the nursery and quickly enough I ran into Abbey.
“Abbey, what’s the rush for?”
Abbey is like a mother to me. When I first enrolled Bells in the nursery, Abbey had sat me down in an office and asked me why such a young girl like me was enrolling such a tiny girl and I told her my story.
Abbey began to treat me like a mother, something my mother didn’t do for me when she found out I was going to be a mother and left me at such a hard time. Abbey being a mother of three herself took me somewhat under her wing and that summer I worked a couple hours a day in the nursery while she taught me how to care for Bells. If it wasn’t for her, I’d hate to think about how Bells would be right now.
“Nothing child, now go pick up that sweet little angel of yours. She’s coloring with the other kids.”
I nodded and Kyle and I walked to the back where, when Bells saw us she got up and wobbled over to us and stopped in front of us and said in a quick breath, “Momma. Daddy.”
My breath stopped in my throat and I bent down and in a hushed whisper, I spoke into Bells ear, “Sweetie, why don’t you get your drawing and we can go home, yeah?”
She nodded her head vigorously at me and I smiled. She went back over to the table and picked up a couple sheets of paper and came back over to where I was standing.
She handed me the papers and I took them as Kyle reached down seeing Bells reach up to him and he gently took her into his strong muscular arms.
The 3 of us made our way to Kyle’s car and I strapped Bells in, in the backseat and then got into the front after handing Bells her colored sheets if paper. I hadn’t had a chance to look at what she’d drawn but I knew that she’s show me as soon as we got home. She always did.
Kyle pulled up at my house and before I had time to even get out of the car, Kyle already had Bells in his arms.
I couldn’t help but smile at their faces.
