.:Skater Girl:. Part 10
“Kyle, baby, I’ve hardly seen you around the last couple days, where have you been?” I heard Greer voice out.
I looked between her and Kyle to see that Kyle had an annoyed expression on his face, something I picked out just because I’m his best friend, no body besides maybe Jake and Austin would ever be able to identify the face he was making.
“Greer, how many times have I told you not to call me that? And I had to help Kylie out with something so I’ve been a little busy.”
Before a smile could trigger on my lips and a blush creep up my cheeks I could only look up and see Greer shooting lightning bolts from her eyes not directed at anyone other than me.
I mentally groaned and led Allie away from the scene that Greer was causing and went into my homeroom class and took my usual seat in the corner of the room.
The seat beside me stayed empty because everyone knew that Kyle always sat beside me and Jake in front and since Austin didn’t have this class with us; Allie sat in the chair diagonal from me and then shifted in her seat until she was facing me.
“Did you hear that in Science, Mr. Cooper is giving out a project?”
I shook my head and at that very moment the bell rand and students slowly began to file into the classroom one by one until I finally saw Kyle, followed by Jake come in and take their usual seats close to me.
I looked at Kyle’s unhappy face and leaned over to him, “What’s wrong?”
He closed his eyes and then whispered into my ear, “I’ll tell you later.”
I nodded my head and leaned back to the back of my chair as Mr. Jenkins began to teach and I put my ear buds into my ears.
-----------------------
By the time 4th period rolled around it was time for Science which I had with Kyle, Allie, Jake and Austin.
Mr. Cooper stood at the front of the class and for once I didn’t put my ear buds into my ears I simply leaned back and tried to listen to what he was saying.
At first he talked about some pointless crap that we would never need in life and when he began to address the project Allie had talked about earlier, I was more than a bit shocked.
“Okay class, starting today for the next few weeks we will be doing a project that I believe you will all need later in life when you all begin your own families.
“I will be assigning the pairs and each pair will have a doll they need to take care of. This doll will cry, it will need to be fed, burped, changed and it will need everything a baby needs from the time it is born. “None of you are getting out of this assignment so don’t even bother. The doll will also have a recorder inside that will record the cries and most of what you say so I truly suggest that you all watch your language around them.
“Your parents will each be receiving an e-mail about this project and you and your partner will have to stay at each other’s houses and act like a real couple for your baby. I expect you and your partner to take full responsibility for your baby and it will count for a lot of your grade. I will now tell you who you are to work with.”
I sat in my seat in shock at the assignment, not the reason behind it but because of the thought running through my mind.
‘How am I supposed to take care of my own daughter if I have to take care of a doll?’
Mr. Cooper was still calling out names when he said, “Allie and Austin. Kylie and Kyle.”
Once he called out my name I didn’t even bother waiting to hear who Jake had been paired up with because I was already looking at Kyle who was starring right back at me.
