Don't Die!

Chapter 9

I wasn't sure. I didn't know if I should just fire up on Ray or to go easy on him. I can't just go fire up on him without any evidence and I also couldn't go easy on him because it's my dog who died.

I entered my class only to realize that Ray was absent. I didn't know how to react to that.

A boy came in and gave a letter to the teacher and went away.

Miss Susan opened the letter. It was from Ray. It said:
To Miss Sally,
I couldn't come to school due to high fever. I will most probably be coming tomorrow and I will take the help of my friends and complete my work.

Susan read it out aloud. Every time when someone is absent due to medical problems, Miss Susan allots two people living near that person's home to go to his/her home and give that person few hopeful words and tell them about the happenings in the school that day.

We can just call that person up but Susan doesn't promote that because talking face to face with true feelings would be better.

She said,"Well. Today, Ray is absent and as usual, two students should go to his home and console him. I think Daniel and James are good friends with Ray. You both go this time."

"What? No way. It's impossible. I don't wanna go to a murderer's house who killed my dog." I replied with anger.

But Susan ordered us to go and we couldn't deny it. She didn't care about what I blabbered.

More than anger, I was literally scared to go to his home. James didn't react. He was just nodding.

She forced us to go and she gave me his address. The address was actually the next to next road of my home and the house number was 159.

I have a feeling I saw this number somewhere. I don't remember. It must be in some maths problem, I think.

So, here was the plan. At first, James would come to my home at 6 pm and we both would leave together.

I had to call him before I go to his home. I had the number he gave me later. My speakers are still not working, so I am using a headphone to call people.

I was a little scared to call him, but I did dare to call him. Ray actually picked up and talked normally. I told I'll be coming to his home after 6 and he said 'Sure'.

Everything was set now, but I really didn't want to console him, he is a bloody murderer.
