A Great Divide

My car won't start, my feet won't move

I sit to rest, but no rest will soothe

The pain I feel, of missing you

I've tried to beat, this separating screen

But no matter what, I still lose.

A distance lays

between us both

A great divide

That always boasts its presence

With only one way to cross;

four wheels and an engine.

So while rain and leaves fall

My feet move me forward

Down a long winding road

Carrying me toward

You, whom I lust

But not for your touch

I lust for your words

and your soothing love.

I love you more than you know

Greater than the divide between us

So here my feet carry me home

To my beautiful Autumn.

"I love you, more than any great divide between us."
