You Treat Me Well

Something I have noticed about you in these last seven months is that you always treat me well. I know what you're thinking while reading that first line; I treat you like garbage all the time. Well you see, that's not how I see it. I see it as a cry. You're internally calling for me to help you, and you have no malice aforethought when you say things that may hurt me. You are quite easily the most amazing thing to happen to me, even when your words may seem to hurt me the most.

It doesn't matter whether you're kissing me, holding me, cuddling me, caring for me, comforting me, writing to me, yelling at me, or saying whatever. You're always treating me the best you can. The reason why I say that is for many different reasons. For example, when you're cuddling me you're showing me a physically affectionate love, and it makes me smile and feel happy. When you're comforting me, you're using the things you say and the way you pet me to reassure me that everything is okay. When you're cynically saying things you may find as nasty or rude to me, you're calling out to me for help without showing that you're weak. The reason I am able to see that as treating me well is because you're not just pushing me away and lying to me when I know you're not okay, and you're not just acting like everything is perfect. You're showing me you want me to help and you're not keeping me away from you when you need me most. You're also not trying to hurt me.

When you say something that scratches me, it never cuts me deep. I say that because you never say anything you mean, and when you do it's something I have to work on and that I deserve to hear. You're always honest with me even if it leaves a mark. You aren't afraid to hurt me lightly for a heavy improvement. You're making all of this work. You're making us better. Thank you for making our relationship as imperfectly perfect as it can be. Thank you for always treating me well.

"I can't think of a time when you truly hurt me and weren't treating me as amazingly as you can. Thank you for that."
