"Wow! I am on ninth cloud today" I screamed with glitter in my eyes. The matter was , i scored 92.2% in my board examination. Mom joined me in my celebrations.
"Your college will start soon , Ruhi , ain't you need to got to buy some of your necessary stationary items. Your college bag isn't ready yet!", Mom touched a high pitch. She was the type of lady who's always in hurry thinking about future.
"You need not to worry. Still a few days are left for college. Also, Ruchika is joining me at evening . We will celebrate and as per your command, we wil roam around the marked to buy all necessaries" I comforted her.
This was the happiest day of my life as:
I crossed eligibility criteria set by
the college I dreamt of...
Ruchika also scored well hence i will be able to carry on with my best friend.
I was too much excited for tomorrow's newspaper as it will cherish my glory with my photograph,
And of course 92.2% in boards itself was a big reason.
#Next day in the morning
A hunger to see myself, not in the mirror for sure, kept me awake whole night. Ruchi and I crossed our fingers to see how we look in the piece of wood.
I unrolled the paper and moved till page number 12 and got our pictures.
There was another suspense.
"If you are number 2 and I am 3rd , who's ranked as 1st" Ruchi asked me with inquisition.
"Some RAHIM QUADRI with 96.4%. His picture is there on first page too, see", I answered.
It seem to be a known face but i dont recognise him.
'I am familiar with this face. Amm... Where, where? Let me think.'
"Poor Ruhi! Do not put so much pressure on your little head. He's a government school student and i guess, we hardly know someone who studies there."
"err...True.
No no!! He's newspaper boy, every morning he supplies newspaper to our home."
"This is quite shocking, no? A student of government school, who also work as a newspaper boy scored such high percentage in board exams."
"Yeah Ruchi! We took so many tuitions, studied in best schools and devoted our maximum time to studies only, yet couldn't even imagine such a result."
"But i did not understand. If he's so intelligent, why did he do that small ridiculous job? "
"Don't say that Ruchi. No single job is small or big unless we are happy with that. We are lucky that we have such parents who could provide us all the luxuries of life and always remember, money is a man made thing, its not created by God so never disrespect someone on that basis."
"okay! Okay! I am sorry my old and pure soul."
"Anyways we should meet this new celebrity of our town and take revenge from him. Afterall he's reason why my photograph isn't on top." I giggled.
Ruchi left for her home.
