So far I had found only one entry on tentacle dreams and multiple on death.

The green book said that tentacles "symbolize unknown danger lurking from the depths of your subconscious. Your subconscious is trying to pull you in so you can address the issues that you have refused to acknowledge."

The navy one said this: "To die in your dream symbolizes inner changes, transformation, self-discovery, and positive development that is happening with your life."

I frowned. It was creepy how right these books were.

It was about 11:00 PM, and I was already starting to feel the drowsiness hit my eyelids.

I scribbled a small letter on a sticky note and grabbed my coat. I was gonna take a walk. If I don't fall asleep, I won't have nightmares.

Plugging in my earbuds, I started to walk towards Wolfe's Neck, which was only about five minutes away.

I could still see the outline of trees in the dark, the silhouettes of branches a little too similar to tentacles than I would've liked.

I turned when I was about halfway through the park.

I had that odd feeling in the back of my mind, the feeling that you're not alone, like there's someone breathing down your neck, but not quite as obvious.

I turned my head just slightly, looking at the corner of my eye, and met glassy blue eyes and the outline of a girl around my age.

I walked a couple more steps, turned at a fork in the road, and she still followed me, even when we stopped at a field.

She didn't seem to know that I knew she was following me. I exhaled.

I knew how to handle this.

I spun around and my fist connected with her face.
