I groaned as we pulled up to the fifth house out of the ten we were to look at.
It was a two-story, two bed 1 1/2 bath, with a brick exterior and a front lawn that was complete with two trees and bushes. As we walked into the gray-blue door, I nearly died.
Big glass windows spread light on a living room that connected to a white-wooden floored dining room. On the opposite side of the living room was a set of wooden stairs, and next to it, a stone fire place. The dining room connected to the kitchen, where big glass doors led to the small backyard. A hallway in the living room led to a half bathroom and a laundry room, and upstairs there was two bedrooms and a bathroom, and an unfinished attic (but, with insulation and drywall, it could make the perfect library).
That was the house we bought.
We moved over the summer, we made the spare bedroom into a music room/office place for Hailey, we bought white furniture (aside from our gray couches). We painted the walls either white or light gray, and a pastel yellow in our office space.
We were finished by the time college again. I still had two years until I was finished with my accoaiates.
Hailey, however, landed the job at the museum at the observatory, teaching kids how to look through a telescsope. I went to one of her teachings once. She was amazing.
We were happy, as always. My mom stopped by once, to bring us cookies. She apologized, and explained how she had to leave, and how she coudnt support me in my ungodly actions.
I was fine.
I was better without her.
Hailey's parents came over for dinner for the first time. They seemed to be supportive of her actions, and even welcomed me into the family.
That was my home.
I was no longer a Williams.
In my heart, I was a Smith.
And that was okay.
