It was about six weeks after Hailey hit when she finally healed.
The first thing she did was drag me into her car and take me to a tattoo parlor.
I put my hand on hers. "What are we doing here?"
We sat down on some sticky black seats. "Getting our wedding rings. And I'm thinking of getting a nose ring, or maybe a star stud."
She led me into the back of the tattoo parlor and sat down. "Don't worry, this isn't my first tattoo." She pulled down her knee-high pink socks down to her ankles to reveal a dolphin.
I wrung my hands together. I had no idea what Hailey was planning, but I trusted her, and hoped it wasn't a HUGE tattoo.
She grinned once she was done and showed me her finger. On her ring finger was a small, black star. It was simple and cute, and permanent, which I had no problems with.
I sat down, scared out of my mind.
Hailed grasped my other hand, smiling and smoothing my hair. She whipped out her phone and put on some soothing cello, and I slowly relaxed, and the needle never hurt. I looked down at my finger. We hadn't even started yet.
Thirty grueling minutes later, the tattoo is done and Hailey takes my hand. "Do you like it?"
I nod. I love it, with every fiber of my being. "Do you want anything else while we're here? Another tattoo, a piercing?"
I nodded. "Go get your piercing, I'll be back."
We were at home, my head in Hailey's lap as she twisted her fingers in my hair. Tangled was on, distantly playing. "I never asked, what tattoo did you get?"
I rolled up the sleeve of my black sweater, where on my forearm, in simple typewriter font, was take my soul and make it undone.
Hailey smiled. "Is there anyone specific it was meant for?"
I sighed, dreamily. "Harry, our lawnmower. I'm marrying him next month."
She shoved me a bit, and I tumbled off of the couch, pulling her down with me.
We laughed and laughed, and soon Tangled was just background noise, it was just us two.
The world didn't exist when I was with Hailey.
It was just her and I.
