"I figured she ran off to you, i'm glad shes safe," Abbey handed the puppy to the lady at the counter, "thanks Becca," Abbey grinned and watched the puppy being put back in her cage, she frowned as the dog whimpered like crazy to be let out. "I'm so sorry," Abbey sighed and pat the dog from the bars. She left to go back to the orphanage sadly, she was back to reality, no pets and no home. She prayed that it would be soon she'd get away from the horrible life of an orphan. "Where have you been?" Grace asked as she got in the door, "i wanted to give Grey a chance to feel like she had a owner so i spent the day at the park with her," Abbey sniffed and walked past her to her room. "Maybe its for the best, she couldn't have a good life here," Grace convinced. "What if i wasn't here, she would have a home with me," Abbey frowned deeply. "She will get adopted sooner then you think." "I want it to be by me though." "Sometimes that isn't possible," Grace sighed and hugged her.
"Abbey wake up!" Grace yelled. "What-" Abbey looked up at her friend, she was holding a macaw in her arms. "Opal?" she got up and looked at the bird curiously, she immediately knew who she was and flew onto her arm. "Is Bindi here?" she asked suddenly, "how do you know this?" Grace gasped, it was a surprise. "Bindi and i met the other day, Opal was at the shelter, she is Bindi's" Abbey smirked. "Wow, that's so cool," Grace smiled. They walked down to the living room together where Claire was talking to Bindi, she had hate in her eyes, "you can't just barge in here with an animal, that is a monster with a beak, now get it out of here before it bites me!" Bindi was horrified in this lady's attitude. "She is no where near you, all i want is Abbey and i will leave, please, i want to adopt her," Bindi begged, turning to Bindi, "good ridden's, she is the most horrible of them all," Claire spat and went to get the forms. Abbey was speechless, "but- you are meant to be on the plane, why are you here?" Abbey was shook, she ran over to Bindi with excitement. "Am i moving to Australia? right now?" Abbey thought nervously, she had never been on a plane before. "Yep, i didn't tell you my flight was tonight did i, after think and think more, i thought i could use some company, you will become my little helper at the zoo." Bindi explained, happy to help her. "This is too much," Abbey felt emotional, her life was just about to change. "Here, sign this and leave before it shits on my floor," Claire was still complaining about the macaw who was sitting on Abbey's shoulder. "She is all your now," Claire smiled falsely. "Thank you so much," Bindi went to shake hands but was rejected. She awkwardly went up to Abbey's room to help her get her stuff. She didn't have much, just a teddy bear her mum had given her, a photo of her family and some books she had stolen from Claire that she didn't use. "Are you ready?" Bindi asked Abbey who was sitting and looked at the photo. "Yea..." Abbey smiled a little, "hey, its going to be okay," Bindi patted her on the shoulder, grabbing her hand and walking back downstairs. All the children watched her leave without saying anything, except Grace who was almost crying but was happy too. "I'm going to miss you," she cried and hugged her friend. Abbey felt her heart tear, "we will keep in contact," she promised. "I really hope so," Grace sniffed and let go of her. Abbey left with her bag and Opal chilled on her shoulder. As they got in the car she started to wonder what the weather would be like in Brisbane, Australia. "Since we still have time to kill, do you want to go get some nice clothes?" Bindi asked her with a grin. "Omg that would be so nice," Abbey smiled brightly.
An hour later Abbey got changed from her dirty, stained dress to a crop-top, shorts, superstars shoes and a checked flannel. Bindi brushed her hair to make her look presentable. "Wow, I look pretty for once?!" Abbey gasped, she had never realised how much of a transformation nice clothes would give her. "You look like a mature teenager now," Bindi gleamed, "thankyou," Abbey smiled. "Is there anything else you want to do?" Bindi asked, they had a few hours to pass still. "Well you know that shelter you had Opal at? There's this puppy I really have my heart for, her name is Grey. Do you think you could adopt her for me?" Abbey asked desperately, "why not, dogs make excellent companions, she can be a thing to bring with you as a remembrance of this place." Bindi smiled, "your so kind," Abbey cheered, "your welcome," she replied and they drove along to the shelter. "I hope she is still here," Abbey prayed. "I'll go get her," Bindi left her in the car and went inside, Abbey was left alone.
"Good afternoon Bindi, what brings you back here before your flight?" Becca asked curiously. "I'm looking for a puppy, a Merle Border collie," she explained. "We have one available, come this way," Becca lead her to a cage with a sad little puppy. "She is a bit depressed because she misses that girl from the other day, remember her?" Becca explained. "Oh yes, Abbey," Bindi smirked. "You seem upto something," Becca searched her mind. "She is my daughter," Bindi explained. Becca gasped, "congrats on both of you," she laughed, "did you hear that Grey, you are going to have a home," Becca spoke sweetly to the dog, she didn't understand but sensed happiness.
