"Today we have a special guest here to join us, she has some very special news to share with us," the news reporter on channel 7 explained live. Abbey sat backstage, trying to put a outfit on Grey because she was bored, she put a pink tutu on her with amusement as the dog tried to get it off. Bindi walked into the sight of the camera, "hi everyone, thankyou for letting me come over here," she smiled. "Your family are always welcome, so Bindi, you went over to America for a few weeks and came back with a new addition, is she here today?" One of the lady's asked. "Yes she is back stage right now, you might want to watch your heads," Bindi grinned, Abbey came out with her two birds flying across to Bindi, Grey walked across with Abbey. The news reporters ducked in surprise. "Ahhh i don't like birds," one gasped. "Its alright they wont hurt you," Abbey laughed as she sat down. "Your Bindi's adopted daughter? whats your name?" The guy news reporter asked, "I'm Abbey," she simply replied. "And this is?" he pointed to Grey, "my bestfriend Grey, she is a Border Collie, its a funny story how i got her actually, its relevant to seeing my mother for the first time," she smiled, continuing on. "I was on a walk to an animal shelter, this little girl happened to be there," she grabbed Opal from Bindi, "shes a beautiful bird," someone commented. "Yes she is, she was Bindi's new adoption and i was very interested in her, i ended up keeping her when i was brought here, Bindi came in and collected her, it was the best day of my life to meet my idol, little did i know that she'd become my mum, Grey was the first puppy i saw when i looked in the kennels, i forgot to close the door and she followed me home, i'm not allowed an animal back home, but now i can keep her," she hugged the puppy happily. "Very cute story Abbey," they smiled. "Okay, congratulations all of you." They ended the interview and exited the building. Abbey looked around the city, she felt like she was back in America, it was a lot like home. New York was bigger but this seemed like a smaller version. "Can we go shopping?" she asked boredly. "Might as well, we don't need to be in the hotel until tonight," Bindi explained, Abbey nodded. They walked to a pet store not far from where they where, it was the only place where animals where allowed. "I want to buy flight suits because they are easier and the birds are more secure." "Sure, don't pick out something weird though," Bindi grinned. Abbey smiled and walked inside, birds where everywhere on stands, from conures to macaws. She felt like she was in heaven, "how much are they?" she thought curiously. "Can I help you?" she was interrupted from her thought when a worker approached her, "uh I was just wondering how much the parrots where," she awkwardly blurted. "We have parrots for adoption who have been surrended to us and these are from our suppliers." The guy explained, "okay, I actually came here to buy two flight suits for my parrots," she laughed. "Well if your interested ask me because they are free to a good home," the guy nodded and walked away. Abbey walked to the bird section and picked up two suits, one was a superman theme and the other was batman. "THIS IS SO ADORABLE!" she screamed a bit too loud, people stared at her weirdly. She went to the counter with them, $20 in her hand. "Would you like to adopt a parrot?" the lady asked, she was confused how she had been asked twice. "Uh do you asked everyone this?" she thought with concern. "No its just your the famous Bindi Irwins daughter, everyone has heard about it very quick." The lady explained, "you can give them a home can't you?" she asked. "If not, they will be put down," Abbey felt sad, "Okay, I guess I could do that, let me see who you have," she followed the man from before. "We have Coco the sulphur crested cockatoo, Milo the Sun Conure, Hector the Senegal, Jax the Blue and Gold macaw and the bonded pair of lovebirds, they didn't have a name but we call them Cookie and Cream," the guy seemed desperate to get rid of them because he started putting them in cages immediately without Abbey deciding who to take. "Take them all, we will provide cages for free." The man explained. Abbey nodded nervously, each bird was placed in the trolley in a carrier they had been brought in. She thanked them and walked out of the door, Bindi frowned as she saw the trolley, "this is why I shouldn't let you go into places alone," she shook her head. "What was I meant to do, they literally forced me to take them." Abbey sighed, "the poor things are in horrible condition," she complained, "lets take them to the hotel, they will have to be with our two tonight, the hotel room has a spare room that we can make into a bird room," she suggested. Abbey just wanted to go back now, she had enough. They travelled all the way to the hotel, Abbey started unpacking the trolley full of birds and cages. It took her a couple of hours to create a bird room while storing the cage boxes in the room near them. She had attached a heap of branches together to make a giant tree stand. "Wow your creative," Bindi was impressed, "who ever wants It can have it," she smiled. She received a quick nod and her mum walked away. She released the birds into the room, they all seemed confused, she had a lot of work to do on them, bonding and looking after them all.
