Abbey wondered the shelter, looking at all the animals who begged to be let out. A Merle coated border collie with beautiful blue eyes caught her eyes, she sighed and walked over to it, "you can play with her if you want," the shelter lady explained, opening the gate for her. "Thankyou," she smiled a little, the boisterous puppy bounced around in from of her with excitement and relief. Abbey was instantly in love, she wanted to keep her more then anything. But something inside her told her she couldn't do it even if she had permission. "She doesn't have a name yet, you can name her if you want," the lady explained with a smirk. "Grey, she has beautiful grey fur and blue eyes," Abbey smiled. "You two would make a great match," the lady admitted sadly. "I wish she was my dog," she felt heartbroken. "I'm sorry i have to leave now," she excused herself and ran out of the building to prevent herself from crying. She had forgot to go to the other place, she just bolted back to the orphanage. A strange feeling tingled inside her, she turned and looked at the city in the distance. It was almost as if she could hear the whimper of the little pup who probably missed her. She continued to walk up the hill to the only home she knew, a horrible orphanage, she felt something bump her as she walked. A little figure was standing there, trying to jump up on her, with a wagging tail, "Grey what are you doing here!?" she gasped. She realized she left the door open, she must have followed her all the way here, it was getting late and she couldn't take her back or she'd get in trouble by Claire. She sighed and picked the puppy up and walked, she didn't know what to do, if she was seen with the dog, Claire would kill it or even worse, abandon it in the middle of no where. She was nervous and couldn't think of anything else to do except take the puppy into the basement and hide her till tomorrow and return her. She had fear in her eyes as she entered the house, luckily the caretaker was asleep, Grace spotted her with the dog, shock was in her eyes. "You didn't...?" Grace immediately ran over and snatched the dog. "You can't have her Abbey, take her back!" Grace frowned, "i can't, its too late, i have been gone for too long as it is," Abbey explained miserably. "True, you got to hide her then," Grace thought, "i was going to, and don't think i did this on purpose, i left the door open to her cage and she obviously followed me back." Abbey explained to her friend, she didn't believe her, instead didn't say anything. They walked into there room, they shared one on the second story. "Its better then the basement," Grace explained, showing her the tiny balcony. "Its dangerous, she could jump off," Abbey was paranoid even though it was fenced and too small for the dog to squeeze through. "Okay Grey, don't move," she anxiously explained and locked the dog outside and went to dinner. She had the same thing as yesterday, heated up lasagna, leftovers. Her mind was set on the puppy now, what could she eat since there was no dog food? She searched the fridge for meat, she found Claire's left over sandwich. "I might get in trouble for this but at least you get to eat," she explained as she dropped it on the floor in front of Grey. The pup didn't hesitate to eat with a wag of her tail. "Your going to find an amazing home, don't you worry," she told the dog as she stroked her. She knew the dog was going to be upset when she is returned to the shelter. "You better bring her inside, she will freeze to death," Grace worried, picking up the pup and bringing her inside. Abbey felt as if she was a little kid being bossed around by her mother by the way Grace treated her. "I'm not stupid," she snapped and lay on her bed, Grey jumped up next to her immediately to say hello. "She's bonded with you," Grace gasped, "yea... that's what bothers me." Abbey sighed and stroked the puppy sadly, "man Claire is going to kill you," Grace frowned, "or the dog." "Please stop talking about this," Abbey asked desperately. Grace went silent and got ready for bed, Abbey did the same. "Gn you two," Grace whispered and past out on her bed. Abbey grinned and got into her own bed, they both lay silently and fast asleep.

Abbey woke to the shine of the sun in her eyes, she heard a knock at the door. Immediately she jumped up, her first thought was the dog, "Abbey, are you up!" Claire yelled at her. "Yea be down in a minute!" She shouted back and looked around for Grey, "here puppy!" She called to the dog as she spotted her under the bed. The dog didn't move, she just looked at her miserably. Something was wrong, it was like she knew what was going on. "Hey, come here girl," she tapped on the ground desperately. The pup just continued to look at her anxiously, she sighed and got up. "I'll be right back," she explained and ran downstairs, closing the door behind her. "What took you so long, where you waking the whole damn neighbourhood?" Claire snapped. "No, I just needed to wake myself up," Abbey rolled her eyes. "Don't give me attitude!" the women fought her as usual. "
