CHAPTER THREE - PUBLIC ENEMY NO. 1

(Part Three)

His eyes revealed a mixture of fear and curiosity. I began to hypnotise him, infecting his innocent black pupils with my fiery red inexorable corneas. ‘You will find and kill Luan’s husband and son by any means necessary. Once you have killed them, you will inform Aries, so he can announce this to the audience and the contestants in the game. Lastly, you will not tell anyone of this conversation; if anyone asks you why I was here… you will tell them I needed some paperwork on the Lycan. Now go and make me proud,’ I whispered. He nodded slowly and sat back down, processing some papers as though nothing had happened.

I left the office with a supreme smile and glided past the inquisitive glares of Priscilla. ‘Are you finished with Drake now?’ she asked angrily.

I smiled, bent down and whispered, ‘For now…’ With that, I confidently walked away, not looking back to see her seething.

Rushing back into the office, I threw myself down onto my throne and screeched, ‘What have I missed?’ The other workers busied themselves with inane tasks as they purposely avoided my inconsistent and emotional stares.

Darcy came and sat by my side. ‘They’re nearing the ChandraZone, but I don’t think Ardan will be leaving anytime soon…’ he wearily mocked as he slightly backed away from me.

‘What do you mean?’ I asked curiously.

‘Well - after she shared a little information about her past, she got a little upset and they both had a little cuddle,’ he replied, quickly moving away as he finished his sentence. The thought of Luan touching Ardan tainted my brain and flashes of them getting more intimate thrashed around my mind, creating a pulsing rage racing around my body.

Without a second thought, I sprang to my feet and began throwing desks, chairs and severed bodies the other workers had brought in for their lunch. ‘SHE WILL NOT HAVE ARDAN!’ I screamed wildly as workers dodged the flying office equipment, with many running out of the office for safety.

‘STOP!’ Darcy shouted as he attempted to calm me down with a few stern words. Nothing worked; I couldn’t hear or watch this young vampire take away my dream.

After five minutes of destroying the office, I collapsed into a heap and began to cry with frustration. The cold, crimson tears exploded from my eyes as Darcy anxiously came to comfort me on the floor.

Holding me tight, he refused to say anything, just in case it made me erupt again and gestured the spying workers to quietly enter the room and clean up the wrecked office.

I held my head up and he wiped the blood from my face.

He looked into my eyes and leaned in for a comforting kiss. ‘I need him to do this task quickly…’ I murmured as Darcy pulled back and looked at me in confusion.

I stood up, dusted myself off and regarded my blood-stained appearance in a shard of broken glass on the floor. ‘Clean up this mess before I come back, or you will all be working late tonight!’ I threatened as I shook off my previous out of control demeanour and welcomed back my cold, commanding disposition. I strutted out of the silent office, leaving Darcy dazed and bewildered.
