*Thursday, the day before the test*
Ethan's POV
(8:39 pm)
Vanessa answered the door and let me in. She was wearing yoga pants and a tight crop top. She had her hair down (when does she not?), and she was wearing square framed black glasses that I'd never seen before."I didn't know you wore glasses." I commented once we got to her room.
"Well, not to school, people would just make fun of me, but I trust you." She said and looked at me with a smile.
"Why me?" I asked.
"Because I don't think you'd make fun of me. Would you?"
"No. I think they look good on you."
"Thanks." She blushed and ran a hand through her hair. She yawned and covered her mouth.
"You tired?" I asked with a smirk.
"Yes. I go to sleep early." She responded sassily.
I looked at the clock. "8:45?" I smirked.
"No, not that early!" She laughed and shoved me. "I thought you said you wouldn't make fun of me?"
"I'm sorry." I said as I sat next to her on the bed. Luckily there was only one page of homework that was review for the test, so it wouldn't take long.
I did the homework and asked Vanessa my questions. She gave short answers that were barely enough for me to work off of, but I managed. After a while, she rested her head on my shoulder. It caught me off guard and I stopped writing I for a second.
"Am I distracting you?" She asked with a sleepy voice.
"No no no, your fine." I said frantically. I didn't want her to move.
After a while, I was only half way through the page and it was already like 9:30. It was taking me too long because I was distracted by Vanessa.
"Alright, I'm done." I said and closed my binder.
"You're only half way there." She argued.
"But I can tell your tired." I said and began to scoot away from her.
"Ethan..." she said and wouldn't let go of my arm so that I couldn't move away. She grabbed my face with her available hand and forced me to look at her.
"Study more before the test." She lectured.
"Yes mom." I joked. She tried not to laugh.
"Listen to me!" She still held my chin so I was looking at her. Both our smiles faded slowly.
"I'm listening." I said softly. Her eyes looked back and forth between mine, and she let go of my face, but neither of us moved away from each other.
I don't know what came over me, but without warning, I leaned in and kissed her on the cheek gently. When I pulled back, she seemed surprised.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that." I muttered and began to get up. She didn't say anything but just watched my every move as I rushed to put my stuff away.
"Goodnight." I whispered.
"Goodnight." She said softly. I got up off the bed and left the room.
My mind was clouded with thoughts of Vanessa all the way home. I told Grayson all about it, and I even admitted to him that I liked her.
I didn't have a plan yet, but I wanted Vanessa to be mine, and she would be soon.
*Friday*
Ethan's POV
Today was a big day. I had the math test, short football practice, and the final game of the season. Rumor has it that Will is throwing a party at his place if we win.I told him I would come, but Gray and I aren't really into parties. We don't drink, and we don't like seeing people drunk.
I tried to find Vanessa all day to talk about the test and possibly mention the kiss, but she was no where to be found. That wasn't helping my nerves.
When I got into math, I was so nervous for the test. Vanessa was there and she told me I would be okay and she helped me to calm down.
As I took the test, I found that I knew a lot of what was on it. I went right through it with hardly any problems.
"Mr. Dolan and Ms. Gonzalez, please come here." The teacher called for us. We both walked up the her desk and stood side by side.
"Ms. Gonzalez, you scored a 98%, well done." The teacher smiled and Vanessa nodded.
"And Mr. Dolan, you got a 91%! Congratulations! Thank you, Ms. Gonzalez for helping Mr. Dolan."
"My pleasure." Vanessa said with a smile.
"It seems as there is no longer a need for you to tutor him." The teacher said.
That thought never occurred to me. Now, things would go back to the way they were before. I would hardly ever get to talk to Vanessa, and it would be like we don't even know each other again.
The bell rang and as soon as we got out of the class, Vanessa exploded.
"Ethan! 91%!" She yelled.
"That's an A-!" I yelled back.
"Congrats!" She jumped into my arms, wrapping hers around my neck. I rested my head on her shoulder and rocked her side to side, taking in everything. The shampoo smell of her hair, and her small warm body against mine.
She pulled away and smiled sweetly.
"Thank you so much Nessa, for everything."
"Any time." She returned.
"Are you going to the football game?"
"No, I never go to those." She shook her head as she opened her locker. Then her friend ran up to her and they both started talking. I guess that was the end of our conversation.
"Well, see you around, Vanessa."
"Bye Ethan." I heard her say as I walked away. I couldn't help but be in a bad mood. Now how was I supposed to spend time with her?
