Ethan's POV
"Hey Ethan, why don't you invite Vanessa over for New Years." My Dad suggested.

"Are we having a party?"

"No, Cam's coming down and I thought it'd be nice to have her over."

"Alright, I'll call her." Why would my Dad suggest that Vanessa come over?

"Hey Nessa?"

"Hey E what's up?"

"I wanted to see if you'd come hang out with my family for New Years? My sisters gonna be in town so you'd get to meet her."

"I'd love to!"

"Okay what about Will?"

"He's got plans with the team so it'd just be me. Did you want him to come?"

"No actually, my Dad suggested that you come."

"Who Sean? Aww, how sweet!"

"Right... so I'll see you then?"

"Of course! Bye, I love you" She said sweetly through the phone, making me smile.

"I love you too. Bye." I hung up and told everyone that she'd be there.

"Oh how nice." Mom cooed.

"It's about time I met her." Cam smirked.

"Good. Glad she's coming." Dad said, tossing a salad.

"Dad, how close did you and Vanessa get a few days ago?" I asked, trying not to sound nosy.

"Well, she told me a lot about her life that I can relate to."

"Did she give detail?"

"Not much." Phew. Just making sure.

Vanessa's POV
The next day, I was over at Ethan's house and we sat at the table eating our food. Well, us normal people ate while the twins played with their food.

"If you just bite right here, and then hold it like this, you can make your asparagus look like a peni- rocket ship!" Grayson changed his words mid sentence due to a glare from his mother.

I tried my hardest not to choke on my food while Ethan smirked too. Cameron hit the food out of Grayson's hands with her fork in frustration.

"I've been in college for two years and you still act exactly the same every time I come back!"

"I know you love me Cam, you don't have to hide it." Gray said and made kissy noises towards her.

"Kids, enough." Lisa demanded. "Can't we just eat dinner like a normal family? Vanessa, I bet you and your parents and brother eat dinner together like normal people, don't you?" Lisa asked me. Ummm, how do I answer that?

I glanced at Ethan who had the same look on his face that I did.

"Not every family eats the same way honey, some people don't sit together at a table like us. Everyone is different." Sean answered for me. I started breathing again and gave Sean a smile of appreciation. He nodded back to me. Thank God for Sean.

"Time to play Taboo!" Lisa danced as she put the game down on the table. The twins groaned.

"Do we have to play this one?" Ethan whined.

"Yes, I love this game!" I clapped.

"This game is for smart people!" Grayson's whined.

"That's why you don't like it!" Cam laughed at him and he rolled his eyes.

"Alright, everyone in teams of two."

"I'm with Vanessa!" Sean called out.

"Wait What?" Ethan said.

"Then I'm with mom!" Cam called out.

"No, I want mom!" Grayson said.

"I want Vanessa!" Ethan said.

"Sorry, I'm with Sean." I shrugged. Ethan's jaw dropped and he crossed his arms.

"Now I'm stuck with Ethan!" Grayson cried.

"You're stuck with me? You're an idiot!" Ethan shouted.

"Alright Alright, let's start." Lisa clapped and the game began.

Sean and I were dominating, we kept guessing and doing things right, scoring lots of points. Each time we'd high five and make everyone else's face drop even further.

"I give up." Grayson said when there was no coming back.

"Me too, you guys won for sure." Cam pointed to us.

"Nice job partner." Sean smiled at me.

"Not to bad yourself."

"3...2...1... HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

Everyone shouted and popped their little popper things. Ethan pulled me into him and held me tight against his body. We kissed shortly and pulled back.

"I love you." I blushed with my forehead to his. We kissed again.

"I love you more." He smiled cutely back and kissed me again, longer this time until someone split us up.

"Woooohooo happy new year!!!" Grayson shouted in our ears, shaking our shoulders. We both rolled our eyes and laughed and I cuddled into Ethan's chest, him rocking us side to side.

Ethan let me go and I went into the kitchen to get some water when I ran into Sean.

"Oh Vanessa, I was just coming to find you! Can I speak with you for a moment?"

"Sure." Sean pulled me of to the side and pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket.

"After today I'm leaving again for a business trip and I'm not sure when I'll be back. So I wanted to give you this." Sean unfolded the piece of paper and handed it to me. "It's my phone number. In case you ever need anything, or some advice." He smiled, folding the paper into my palm and then patting my hand.

"Thank you so much. I'll definitely keep in touch with you."

"Nessa, you ready to go?" Ethan asked coming over to us.

"Sure. Thank you so much Sean. I'll hopefully see you soon." I nodded with a smile and he did the same back.

"You and my Dad seem really close." Ethan mentioned as we drove back to my house.

"Ya, we talked a lot recently. He's a lot like me."

"Really? I never really thought about that." Ethan shrugged. "How'd you become so close?"

"Like I said, we talked a lot recently and we are a lot like each other." I said again slower. Why's he asking so many questions?

"Well I mean, why are you guys so close already? You've only talked for a total of like two hours!" Ethan pulled into my driveway.

"Ethan, he's like the father I never had... is that the answer you were looking for?" I asked. I stared at him for a few seconds as he looked at me in shock.

"Oh, Vanessa I-" I got out of the car and walked up to my front steps. Maybe I was stupid for getting so close to Sean. I didn't even realize that's why we're so close until I said it.

I heard Ethan's car drive away as I went into my house. I'm glad he didn't try to chase me.

I need a moment to think.
