Ethan's POV
After school, I went to Vanessa's house and sat on the couch with her as she told me about her brother.

"He snapped Ethan. I got my brother back." She smiled and I pulled her onto my chest.

"That's great babe, he's good now?"

"He talks to me a lot more now, just like old times." She said. I twirled a piece of her hair and we talked more.

All of a sudden, the front door rattled and a woman walked in. She was short and plump, she looked kind of like Vanessa and Will.

"Mom?" Vanessa said, getting up.

"Hi. I just came for the bills." She announced and walked past us on the couch. Vanessa gave me a weird look and walked me over to the kitchen where her mom was.

"Mom, this is my boyfriend Ethan." Vanessa said awkwardly.

"Hi." Her mom said, barely looking up from shuffling papers.

"Nice to meet you Ms Gonzalez."

"Where's Will?" Her mom asked without responding to me.

"He's out. Why?" Vanessa asked.

"I just haven't seen you two for a week, that's all. Wondering how he's doing." She said and began to leave the house.

"Mom? Have you heard from Dad recently?" Vanessa said and her mom stopped in the living room.

"No. Why?" She asked firmly.

"Will and I got a letter from him for our birthday. It was odd."

Vanessa's mom stood there, tapping her finger on her cheek. "Hmm... Don't give him any money." She said, then left the house.

"Is that normal?" I asked.

"For us? Ya." Vanessa shrugged and we sat back down.

*5:30pm*
Up in Vanessa's room, we sat on her bed and did homework.

"No, it's supposed to be like this." She pointed to her paper.

"I'm sorry I'm not as smart as you." I joked.

"Me too." She said with a smirk.

"Hey!" I shouted and attacked her with tickles. She squealed and tried to push me away, but I'm relentless. I layed on top of her and pinned her down.

"Now you're stuck." I smirked. I went in for a kiss and she stuck her tongue out.

"Eww!" I shouted and rolled off of her and she laughed at me.

"Gotcha!" She laughed and flung her arms around me as I wiped my lips off.

"I'll get you back for that." Just then, Will walked in.

"Hey lovebirds." He smirked.

"Oh Will, mom was looking for you." Vanessa said.

"Mom was here?"

"Ya she took the bills and left."

"Phst." Will said. "Oh hey Ethan!"

"Sup Will!"

"I just wanted to say, sorry for being a dick to you."

"Giving out apologies huh?"

"Yup, have been all day." He smiled. He looks nice when he smiles, I'm not used to it.

"It's cool man. Glad your good now."

"Yup! I'm a new man!" He shouted and left the room.

"Things are lookin up." I said to Vanessa.

"Good. Maybe with Will on our side school will be easier." She said.

"I hope so. Until then, let's enjoy our time alone together." I smirked and rolled on top of her again, laughing.

*Thursday*

Vanessa's POV
"What? This can't be true!" I said, my mouth hanging open.

"I'm sorry."

"Why wouldn't you tell me sooner?"

"I just... I didn't know how." Jenny shrugged.

"You're leaving me forever?"

"Not forever, we'll see each other again." Typical Jenny trying to stay hopeful.

"It'll be years till I see you again, France is so far away." I pointed out.

"I'm sorry Nessa. I'm going to miss you a lot."

"Jenny you can't leave me here alone."

"You're not alone, you have Ethan." Jenny pointed out.

"I know, but your my best friend..."

"Till the end." Jenny added with a smile. I quickly pulled her into a tight hug.

"I love you so much Jenny."

"I love you too Nessa." Jenny whispered into my shoulder. It makes sense that's she's moving, that's why she's missed so much school lately. But why wouldn't she have told me sooner? She leaves at three in the morning tomorrow for France, and I'll never see her again.

"Thank you for being there for me." She told me.

"Please, I wouldn't have been able to do it without you." I said with shaky words. We stood in my doorway for a couple seconds, and I broke the silence.

"So I guess this is goodbye."

"I guess..." Jenny said and looked up to me with hazel eyes. It really hit me right then, I'm losing my best friend. I've heard about stuff like this before, but I never thought it would hurt so bad. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes and my throat tightened.

"God I'm gonna miss you so much." My voice faded as the tears spilled over. Jenny didn't say anything, but she pulled me into yet another hug, this one tighter, longer, and more meaningful.

"Goodbye Nessa." She said with a forced smile.

"Goodbye Jenny." I waved slightly, and burned into my brain the picture of the last time I'd see my best friend. I then closed the door lightly and went to the window to watch her go down the path.

Before she got in her car, she turned back for the last time with a wet face, and lightly waved at me. I twiddled my fingers until her car left the neighborhood.

I walked up to my room slowly, closing the door behind me. I went in my drawer to find a charger, but instead I found a picture of Jenny and on the first day of high school. We stood arm in arm, throwing peace signs and kissy lips at the camera.

This made me smile with joy, and tears of happiness filled my eyes. I'm going to miss her so much.

Has your best friend ever moved away? Comment! Mine has... three times 😭

Also I know the Jenny thing was really random but her character was only needed in like the first few chapters so I kinda just wanted to "kill her off" if you know what I mean.😂😜
