*Sunday Evening*

Vanessa's POV
All yesterday I stayed in my room thinking about Will and Ethan, and I came to a conclusion.

Will was just trying to get in my head and ruin what I have with Ethan. I trust Ethan. After all that he's done for me, I know he wouldn't try to hurt me.

When I finally finished thinking, I decided to make good use of my time. I pulled out my math and set up at my desk.

I worked for around 20 minutes when I got a text.

I locked my phone and opened my window. I looked down and saw Ethan standing a few feet below. I couldn't help but laugh as he started climbing the tree and came into my room. I closed the window behind him and waited for him to speak.

"Vanessa...are you mad at me?"

"No I'm not. I thought about this a lot." I said taking his hands.

"Me too." He said.

"I don't think you would use me Ethan, but Will has a way of getting to my head." I told him.

"Why do you let him when all he does is bring you down?" Ethan said standing close to me.

"I don't try to let him, he just..."

"He just what?"

"Nothing."

"Please tell me." Ethan said and squeezed my hands. He brought me over to my bed and sat down with me.

"Vanessa, I don't want there to be any secrets between us. I trust you, and I want you to trust me."

"Where are you going with this?" I asked.

"Please tell me everything about you. Starting with your brother, then going to your dad." When Ethan mentioned my dad I was caught off guard.

"How do you know about him?"

"Will mentioned him." Ethan said. Of course he did.

"What happened to him?" Ethan asked. Well, if there is a good time to tell him, it's now. I took a deep breath and began. I moved so that Ethan and I were facing each other in the middle of my bed. I told him all about my Dad and what had happened that day.

"So, my mom told him to leave. She didn't say forever, but he left that day and I haven't seen or heard from him ever since." I finished.

"So that's what Will meant." Ethan muttered. "When I said that Will is the reason you are so shy and scared, he said it was cause of your dad... that's why." I nodded.

"Well, Dad screwed Will up too. Will joined the football team and took on my Dads image. I don't know why, some sort of coping mechanism. But we used to be best friends, like you and Grayson. When dad left, he shut me out. He's never been the same since." I pushed my glasses up on my nose and looked at Ethan.

"Have you tried to talk to Will? Make it like old days?" Ethan asked.

"I've tried. He's lost. But sometimes I catch him going soft, it doesn't last long though." I told Ethan. He nodded. He was thinking hard and I could tell.

Ethan's POV
"Enough about me, tell me about you. Anything you want me to know?" She said and clapped her hands together. What do I have to tell her? I did say NO secrets.

"Okay. Here goes." I took a breath in and talked.

"Grayson and I transferred here because we were severely bullied at our old high school back in Jersey for years, and it started getting very bad. The kids at our school were threatening us on social media before senior year even started, and on the first day, we got into a fight. But it ended up being us against like 12 people. Let's just say it didn't end well. We had to move, before things got even worse." I told her.

"I'm sorry Ethan, for you and Gray." She said.

"I know you know what we went through. That's why I stood up for you." When I said this, Nessa smiled brightly.

"You cared."

"I did. That shit they were doing to you was close to what had happened to me. Since I had a better reputation here, I tried to help you." I told her. Before I could blink, she tackled me onto the bed and layed on top of me.

"Ethan Dolan, you're deeper than I thought." She said and laughed.

"Hey, I know this is random timing, but can I ask you something?" I said.

"Shoot!" She said.

"Will you go out with me?" I asked.

"Score." She responded. I guess that meant yes. I chuckled and wrapped my arms around her and held her tight to my chest.

All was well and good.

*****

Shit.

We have school tomorrow.
