today i went home. you demanded to walk home with me. we talked about our friends and how amazing they were. your friends sound nice. i want to meet them one day. when i asked about where you're from, you stopped talking. we walked in silence the rest of the way.

today when i opened the door, my father asked who you were. you said a friend he met at the bar. my father told us to come inside, with his sinister smile on. i hate that smile.

today when you left my house, you left with a bruise on your eye. i felt so bad about it that i let my father beat me. he yelled at me for going to a bar, and yelled at me for not getting a girlfriend. i walked into the bathroom, bleeding from the back.

today i texted you in the bathroom, crying hysterically.

john- im so sorry its my fault you got a bruise
alex- OH MY GOD JOHN ARE YOU OK IVE BEEN WORRIED SICK DID YOUR FATHER HURT YOU
john- i deserved it. i let you get hurt.
alex- what the heck

alex- im going to your house
john- NO
alex- im going to climb in your bathroom window
john- ok... go through the one in my bedroom
alex- where is that
john- upper floor with the turtle curtains, be safe
alex- i will

today you climbed into my bathroom window. you saw all the scars on my back. i broke down in tears and you comforted me. i've never had someone to do that before. you saw the scars on my wrist, too. we sat there, hugging, me crying, for hours. i'm surprised you didn't think i was a freak.
