He tasted like cotton candy from the fair they had visited nearly an hour ago and smelled like the extra strong sunblock she had forced him to put on. Grinning, he kissed her lips quickly and ran to the edge of the boat, peering over the back to where the rest of his friends were laughing in the water.
"Dare me to do a backflip?" Stiles asked Lydia, who laughed, shook her head and mumbled, "no babe".
He shrugged, backing up to the very very edge before doing a backflip into the water despite his girlfriends words.Lydia rolled her eyes and returned to her novel with a soft smile. She wasn't really one for camping or spending all day out on a boat off the coast of California, so when Isaac had offered the keys to his dad's boat, she felt less than interested. But Stiles had asked her sweetly if she would come, his hands around her waist. How could she resist? So she'd said yes and then convinced them all to go to the fair on the pier just a mile or two from where they were camping.
"Lydia," Stiles was climbing back into the boat, his shoulders bouncing up and down from laughter and he pushed back the wet hair from his face.
"Don't sit next to me, you're drenched." She warned, turning a page in her book. He wrapped a towel around himself and sat next to her anyway.
"Kira really wants to go walk around the pier. You up for some more roller coasters?" He asked, nudging her arm with his elbow until a smile grew on her face and she closed her book. Soon enough everyone was out of the water: Scott revolving around Kira, Malia and Liam in the middle of some intense conversation and finally Isaac who sat behind the wheel of the boat. They arrived at the docks and gathered all their things from the boat while shouting the lyrics to some pop song, heading to the campsite. Stiles chased after Lydia while humming the theme to Jaws, the girl shrieking and trying to ignore the way sand flung up into her shorts from her flip flops when she ran. When he finally caught up to her, caught the girl in his arms, he swung her around with laughter while pretending to bite her like a shark.
Everyone changed from their bathing suits and met back on the shore to begin their walk to the pier.
"Wow, you–" Stiles couldn't finish his sentence, threading a hand through his hair while looking Lydia up and down. She blushed but brushed it off, it was just a tank top and some jean shorts. He wrapped his arms around her and buried his face in her neck until Isaac had groaned and made a puking noise. He filled her lungs with laughter as the group walked towards the screams from the pier, the twists and turns of deathly roller coasters and boardwalk games tempting them.
"Please?" Lydia tugged several times on Stiles' red shirt. He eyes her. "Please?" She begged. He sighed and gave in, allowing his girlfriend to pull him in line to a rather tall and steep ride. Isaac cackled at his pale expression before following after Malia, Kira dragging Scott to a basketball game while shouting something about a stuffed dolphin and Liam seemed to be attempting to flirt with a girl.
"After this, we're getting more cotton candy." Stiles sighed, buckling himself in as it was their turn to ride.He nearly fainted, leaning on Lydia for support once the roller coaster was over. He complained of puking but she leant her head on his shoulder and told him he was overreacting. She wished summer would never leave: loving the look of his arms in short sleeves (not hidden by flannel), loving how he seemed to get more tan by the minute, loving the energy the sun gave him and how he took a moment to breath the fresh air every once and a while. She loved summer, she loved him.

Authors note:I love summer but I hate bugs, sunburn and heat. Therefore I shall love autumn more, cause that's when everything dies (like me on the inside).
Comment, read, enjoy!
