Emily's P.O.V

The next morning I wake up feeling miserable. My eyes open and for a fraction of a second I lay in bed not knowing what day it is, not knowing I have school to go to and not knowing any of the complications that is my life and for that fraction of a second I am happy. Until reality crashes back down on me and I remember everything!

It's Thursday, my least favourite day of the week; I have two exams today, one in world history which I will most certainly fail and the other is music class which I'll ace before the paper is even set in front of me. It's a given and happens every time.

I also see Shawn again today. To say my emotions are conflicted would be an understatement. One side of me wants to get to know him more yet the other side wants to run for the hills after meeting his family yesterday. Yet his family intriguing and I want to know more about them and Shawn.

"Em, are you getting up or what?" My sister calls from downstairs. "If not I'll be in the shower in five."

"Yes ok, whatever!" I moan back rolling over to bury myself in my mound of pillows.

After a few more seconds of dreading the day I roll out of bed and scurry into the bathroom for a shower to get ready for the day.

Shawn's P.O.V

It fills my veins frantically as the red liquid rejuvenates my body. The hunger that has been clawing at my throat all night is sated as the last drops drip down my parched throat. The need is never gone for good though and will be back soon. I'm reviling in blood bliss when Stefan's voice shouts to me.

"Shawn c'mon I'm leaving now!"

My high comes crashing down back to reality. I wash my cup up frantically in the sink before running out of the house to join my brothers.

"Dude, I'm coming." I shout back as I run down the porch steps.

"So are you going to talk to him today?" Becca asks as we walk to our lockers before first period.

The hall is already full of students making it difficult to manoeuvre without crashing into someone. I grip the straps of my backpack tighter on my shoulders as I forge through the crowds.

"I'm not sure," I reply finally stopping at my locker to get my class books out. "I mean he told me not to say anything to anyone about what happened and to just forget it ever did happen but I can't just not say something when I have so many questions, you know?"

"You should go talk to him." My best friend advises. "You don't want what happened between you and Tyler to also happen to you and Shawn."

Piling my math, social studies, literature and foreign languages books into my bag I shut my locker to face my longest friend.

"What happened to me and Tyler was completely different Becca. His Uncle died and we drifted. This whole thing with Shawn that isn't even a thing yet anyway cannot be compared to my previous relationship, so what's the point?"

Becca leans into my neighbouring locker, rolls her beautiful blue eyes and smiles. She nods to somewhere over my shoulder as she says, "You obviously like him and he so obviously likes you too so don't ignore that fact, even with all the family baggage you should at least try."

I turn in the direction Becca nodded to see Shawn standing with his brother at the end of the hall. With his messily styled brown hair, perfectly angled face, plump lips and bright hazel eyes he looks like an artist's painting that has been executed flawlessly.

And that perfect specimen is looking right at me.

"Talk to him Em, please?" Becca whispers in my ear. "I know I said he seemed dodgy before but that's before I saw my best friend constantly beating herself up about him. Talk to him. I'll see you at lunch and don't forget we have that party tonight!" She adds already backing away to her first period class with a gleam shining in her mischievous eyes.

Groaning at knowing I have to go out tonight I turn away to start walking to my math class which is coincidently centimetres away from Shawn and Stefan's location.

The party that I had almost thankfully forgotten is Jase's party. AKA: The most popular jock in school and also Becca's longest (and one of many) crushes. To say Jase's parties aren't always civilised is an understatement. Talk about messy and unpredictable. One of the many reasons I dread a Jason Monroe party.

I manage to walk past the Salvatore's with no more than a small uncomfortable smile off them both before I enter my math class. If I decide to talk to Shawn it won't be in front of his brother and the rest of the school.

"Hey Emily," A familiar voice calls as I drop down at my usual middle desk by the window.
I look up to see Tyler beaming at me from his seat across from me. I happen to share most of my classes with him which at one point in time was a blessing but now I'm not so sure.

"Hey, what's up?" I force a smile back. I've promised myself for months now that I wouldn't make things awkward between us but today I'm really not in the mood for Tyler's usual morning flirting - especially with Shawn still stood outside the door waiting for the warning bell to ring.

"Not much. We-" by we I'm guessing he means our friends, "-haven't seen you much these last few days where have you been?"

"What do you mean? I've been here." I frown.

"Well yeah...but all week you've been kind of spaced out then at lunch yesterday you just took off and we haven't heard from you on the group chat which is not like you." Tyler laughs at his joke of thinking he knows me so well.

"Oh sorry," I apologise, I've been so caught up in Shawn this past week I didn't even notice I had been abandoning my friends.

"You're going to Jase's party tonight right?" Tyler switches topic to which I'm glad about. "Heard it'll be a big one this time with a few of the kids from his cousin's school coming over to join the party."

"Oh right," I murmur still half distracted by Shawn's presence as he leans against the wall outside. His grey shirt slides up to reveal an inch of his tanned side.

"Yeah I'll be there," I add just as the bell rings loud overhead.

"Cool, I'll tell the gang." I hear Tyler say through my ogling haze.

Shawn laughs at something his brother says before pushing off the wall. His shirt slides back into position and his eyes choose that moment to meet my own and for a fraction of a second I swear he even winks at me as he moves his way to his class.

I'm left sat in a classroom with my ex-boyfriend and students I've known my whole life breathless and wanting Shawn to wink at me again.

Shawn's P.O.V

There's a party tonight and Emily is going which means I am also going. I assume my brothers will also come but with a house full of drunken teenagers I'm sure they'll both be too distracted to see me disappear with Emily. They can't know I lied to them about making Emily forget what happened yesterday.

I know she wants to talk to me. I know she's angry at me about yesterday and I know she has so many questions that I can only answer with half-truths but I want to be honest with her as much as I can be.

Throughout the whole school day I'm on edge for some unknown reason. Maybe it's because of the party tonight but I know that's not why my senses are on hyper alert. Something is going to happen soon and my vampire can sense it as it waits impatiently to rear its ugly head.

Hey! I hope you guys don't mind the fast paced P.O.V's I'm trying to get my point across with how Emily and Shawn are feeling by making short snappy point of views. I hope that's being betrayed in my writing anyway haha! The action is about to start and I'm honestly so excited :) – Kelly x
