Shawn's P.O.V

"It's too quiet in there I can't hear them talking anymore." I whisper from the girl's locker room. "I'm going in."

"No!" Damon pulls me back from opening the doors to the school gymnasium. "It's too soon. Like you said we need to get our information before killing him."

"We're not killing him." Stefan adds from the other side of me. "We can't risk people getting suspicious. This town is already seeing an unrealistic amount of deaths if we add any more people are going to start looking into it more."

"Then we move." Damon rolls his eyes. "We've done it before."

"I'm not moving." I say at the same time as Stefan says, "This is our home."

"Stefan we're over one hundred years old we lost our home centuries ago." Damon whisper yells at his brother.

"This town is our home Damon. Although our house fell long ago this town didn't. We're one of the founding families it's our home no matter the century."

Their argument carries on even as I step through the doors to the gymnasium. They don't notice I'm gone until it's too late. I hear Damon curse under his breath before footsteps are felt close behind me as both of my brother's follow my lead.

"I wish you would just listen to us kid." Damon whispers in my ear.

"Please don't." A shaking familiar voice says as we enter. My eyes instantly go towards the voice.

Tyler and Emily are at the furthest side of the gym. Tyler has Emily in his grip and I don't need super human eye sight to know he's hurting her. Emily's soft whimpers tells me everything. Her arms will be purple with bruises tomorrow, if not broken already.

"I'm sorry Em, remember that." Tyler says before he tips forwards to bury his fangs into my girl's neck.

"No!" I shout. I'm pushed to the floor as Damon flies towards the scene before I can even get my body to react to the scene in front of me.

He rips Tyler away easily. Someone with Damon's age and skill would be nothing compared to a newly turned vampire. Hell I'm no match for my brother either but then I have only been this way for a year.

I push myself back up off the floor within seconds and Emily is in my arms not long after. Her neck is a mess. What would have merely been two tiny pricks is now a long gash. It's deep but not life threatening if you can get instant medical help. Blood is everywhere though. So much fucking blood my body is going crazy with the need to drink. Shit. My fangs pierce my bottom lips as I try my hardest not to hurt the one girl I've let into my life since I became the thing that I am. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

"Wait you're killing him?" She slurs the moment she realises I'm now holding her and Tyler is in Damon's procession. She doesn't notice my inner struggle, thank God. "I thought we needed him!" She coughs around her need to breathe.

"No, we've paralysed him until we can get him home Emily. It's our safest option, we're not killing him it'll be a little uncomfortable when he wakes up and if he doesn't move too much he'll be fine." I explain as best as I can through my now ravaging hunger. Shit.

Emily tries to talk but nothing but blood leaves her delicate lips. My heart races even more.

"Stefan I need your help over here!" I shout watching as my kin hold Tyler down effortlessly, around his thrashing about.

"Can't you see we're busy Shawn?" Damon yells. "From the smell of things and the way her heart is slowing down she's going to hit that critical stage pretty soon. I'd stop being such a pussy about it and do what we talked to you about."

"Shawn don't leave it any longer." Stefan yells as he sends a punch towards Tyler's left cheek knocking him out cold.

Right. Stop being a baby Shawn and give Emily your blood.

"Don't try to talk Em. We've got you, you're going to be fine." Are the last words I say to Emily before she blacks out for a few second before blurry eyes try to focus on me once more. At this point I'm left with no other option but to bite into my own wrist and give her my blood.

"Drink," I whisper as my blood drips into her mouth. "Please." I add when she resists.

It takes a few moments but Emily starts to swallow my blood. She gags around the horrible copper taste human taste buds dislike so much until I finally pull away. Her wounds heal almost instantly as her head tips to the side in unconsciousness. Her delicate human flesh knits itself back together again as she sleeps painlessly.

By the time she wakes in a few hours she'll be feeling brand new as if this moment didn't even happen. The vampire blood in her system won't turn her into a monster like me unless she dies. Her human senses however will be heightened for a few days at least. We'll need to come up with a good enough excuse for her parents and friends whilst she stays with us.

"Let's get out of here." I hear Stefan say through my overactive thoughts. "We have a lot of things to do now and not a lot of time to do it in."

"You're going to be fine Em." I whisper into Emily's ear as I pick her up. Wrapping her fragile body in my arms I kiss her forehead before following my brothers out of the school.

It turns out we don't need to worry about being seen as Damon's car is right by the fire exit doors. As we push out of the gym Stefan and Damon get to work on restricting Tyler's arms and legs with vervain laced rope. His skin crackles on contact with it which means as a newly turned his strength will be zapped with the pain. They throw him, literally, into the trunk before taking their seats up front.

I, however, focus on Emily. I lay her on the backseat of the car with her head balanced on my lap. I know she's going to be ok but I'll still have a trace of anxiety until the moment my blood is out of her system.

Left over blood transfers itself onto Damon's car seats which I know I'll be paying for later on but right now I can't help but laugh.

"What's wrong with you?" Stefan turns in his seat with a frown. His eyes scan Emily, no doubt checking her vitals with his monster senses, before looking at me in confusion.

"Did you snap already?" Damon shakes his head.

"No." I laugh, knowing full well I shouldn't be but I feel the need to lighten the mood suddenly. "There's blood in your car."

"What!" Damon yells as the car swerves into opposite lane filled with oncoming traffic before straightening up again. "What do you mean there's blood in my car Shawn?"

There's a moment of tense silence before Stefan starts laughing along with me and I know everything is going to be alright. We'll figure out what's going on and everything will go back to how we planned it. Right now though we need this because I have a feeling it's only going to get worse before it gets better.

"I swear to God Shawn you're going to pay for this." I hear Damon yell through mine and Stefan's full blown laughter.

"Soz bro." I say eventually making even Damon break out in a smile.
