Shawn's P.O.V

Emily is here, at my house, saying the words I've been dreading to hear come from those plump lips of hers. I take not even a second to decipher how I'm feeling about this revelation and I'm struck between absolute horror and ecstatic happiness. I mean Emily knows what I am she knows the horrific monster that I contain inside myself and she's still willingly stood on my front porch confronting me?

Although it wouldn't have taken a genius to have figured out what I am after the party last week I thought maybe my luck was in and she had finally given up on me and moved on. I wouldn't have blamed her if she did because I would have given up on myself if it were possible. But here she is. She's stunning and the beast inside of me would like nothing more than to ravish this girl right now but no I have to keep control.

"You're a freaking vampire Shawn." Emily says again this time louder and more confident in her proclamation.

"What?" I fake laugh still acting dumb to the truth she speaks.

"Shawn..." Emily almost whines but she looks more frustrated than annoyed at me right now. "Stop hiding."

"Shawn, who is it?" Damon's voice suddenly trails loudly from the kitchen.

My eyes lock with Emily's and suddenly I'm closing the door and ushering her away from the house and into the shelter of trees next to the driveway. My dead heart is pumping overtime and my senses are on alert.

"What's wrong?" Emily pleads pulling on my arm to release my strong grip from her wrist. "Shawn?"

"You can't be here right now it's far too dangerous." My eyes scan the house and I pinpoint Damon and Stefan both still in the kitchen wondering where I am. I'm not sure where Lily is, she hasn't been home in the last few days which is a normal occurrence for her when she's trying to find out information. I have seconds to say what I need to say before Emily is spotted though so I need to say what I have to say and fast.

"I'm not scared of you." Emily frowns, standing straighter and lifting her chin in a defiant way.

Sighing I speak. "We don't have time to do this now Emily. Tonight meet me in the school parking lot at seven it should be safe there and I'll know if anyone is watching."

Emily nods once her wide eyes hanging on my every word.

"Oh, and Emily," I add just before I race back into the house.

"Yes?"

"You should be scared of me." I leave Emily in the safety of the trees as I run back to the house.

"Who was that?" Stefan says as I close the front door behind me. Jumping I turn around hoping I can lie to my closest brother.

"I'm not sure there was no one there when I opened the door so I went and checked down the drive a bit but it must have been a squirrel or something."

"Oh," Stefan frowns. "I thought I heard voices."

"No," I lie once more. "No voices, just me cussing the nothing that hit the door."

I go to walk past Stefan so I can get my fill in the kitchen but he grabs my arm and brings his mouth close to my ear. His warm breath tickles my lips as he whispers. "I can smell her on you Shawn and there better be a reasonable explanation for why the girl was here otherwise she's dead."

Gulping I have no choice but to finally tell the truth. However I'm meeting Emily tonight before I reveal anything to the rest of my family. I need to explain myself and tonight is likely the only opportunity I'm going to get. I'm going to need Stefan's help though.
