Your friend invited you to go skateboarding with her, which you first declined, but she ended up convincing you to go.

The bruises are going to kill me, you think to yourself as you grab the skateboard that your friend brought you.

"It'll be fun, just don't fall." she grins.

I fall trying to get out of bed, what do you actually expect?

Your thoughts are not heard as you say, "Yeah. I won't fall, I'll just die."

She shakes her head and begins to skate, her knowledge of skating shimmering.

You walk to a flatter area, putting your board on the ground and begin to regret not bringing a helmet nor any pads.

Not wanting to just stand around, you put one foot on the board, wobbling.

Fixing your stance with one foot on the pavement and the other on the skateboard, you move forward using the foot that was on the skateboard and begin to wobble more.

Who decided to put wheels on a piece of wood and call it a day?

Ignoring your thoughts, you continue this small simple exercise until you finally decide to have both feet on the board.

With two feet on the board, you easily lose balance and fall off, your skateboard flying away.

"Yeah, I give up for today." you mumble as your sitting on the concrete, dealing with the pain of falling butt-first.

"You need some help?" a male voice asks you suddenly.

You look up and see a boy with curly, light brown hair and dark brown eyes.

You grab his hand that was extended, his other hand holding your skateboard.

"I'd appreciate it." you answer, now standing up.

He smiles and places your board on the ground.

"Stand on your board sideways. You're right foot is dominant, yeah?" he asks you, and you nod.

(A/N: sorry lefties!)

"You'll use your right foot to push, but not now. Right now, just get comfortable being on it." the boy tells you, and you nod as you place your left foot on the middle of the board.

You begin to wobble, but the boy extends his hand for you to hold onto.

You take it, feeling better now that you have some help.

"My name's Jack by the way." he introduces himself, and you nod.

"I'm y/n." you tell him, beginning to hold his hand tighter as you wobble.

"Did you come here to learn how to skate by yourself?" Jack asks you as you regain your balance.

"My friend invited me and basically won the argument. She's over there." you point to the left where the more advanced skaters were.

Your focus shifting to something else, you lose balance once again but you don't fall as Jack catches you.

He smiles as he says, "got it, let's focus on balance for now."

After a few hours of practicing, you finally learned how to not fall and slowly push yourself on the board.

You thank Jack as you step off of your board.

"No problem. Do you want to, maybe, meet up here again tomorrow? There's still more I can teach you." Jack offers, and you nod.

"Yeah, I'll probably forget everything I learned by the time I fall asleep." you smile.

Jack chuckles and then asks, "can I have your number? I'll text you what time."

You nod and tell him your number, excitement lingering in the air.

Your friend waves you over, signaling that it was time to go.

"Bye, Jack." you tell him as you give him a small wave.

"Goodbye, y/n. Don't leave me alone here tomorrow." Jack smiles, and you could've sworn he gave you a wink as well.
