First Date (Zach)

"Zach, I'm excited!" you tell him as he drags you to the Uber that was waiting for you two.

"Me too, I think you'll love our first date." Zach smiles at you, his excitement clearly on his face and in his words.

"Aww, you can't drive." you tease him as your both a few feet away from the car.

"I mean— I could... illegally." Zach cheekily smiles and he proceeds to open the door for you.

You thank him and climb into the car, Zach following you.

When the driver asks where to, Zach gets close to the driver and tells him the address in secret.

"You better fall in love with this young man." the driver tells you and you laugh, wondering where Zach told the driver to go.

"First dates don't really line up with that." you mention.

The driver remarks this statement with a, "Nah, just believe it will kid."

You put on your seatbelt, and then look over at Zach who wasn't wearing one.

"Zach, you live dangerously?" you joke, and he realizes what you meant which makes his eyes light up.

"Yes. My bedtime is at 9 and guess what time I sleep at." he smiles at you like a kid and proceeds to put on his seatbelt, still waiting for your response.

"Nine o'one?" you ask, raising your eyebrows and wondering what answer he'll give you.

"Nine o'two." he beams matter-a-factly, and the driver begins to make a comment.

"He's trying to impress you, you know?"

"I'm really impressed." you chuckle, surprised at how laidback the Uber driver was.

Minutes of chatter and laughter pass, then you both are finally at the destination.

You two thank the driver and exit the car, your eyes widen as you look at the building.

"AN ANIMAL SHELTER?" you exclaim, unable to contain your excitement.

"I KNOW RIGHT! Y/N, THIS WILL BE SO GREAT!" Zach's voice screams thrill, and his exhilaration is nothing that can be contained.

You and Zach enter the building, radiating joy.

He speaks up, "So we're going to be comforting the dogs and cats here, I hope you're not allergic to any."

He looks at you, awaiting for you to clarify any allergies he wouldn't know of.

"None, but I'm sure they have medication here in case I somehow am." you answer, grinning from ear to ear.

"Perfect, let's go." he take hold of your hand as you both walk through the building, spotting dogs here and there.

Finally, Zach opens a room that led to a large yard.

Soon, you're both in the yard with many dogs.

"The cats are in the other room, we'll go there— oh hey, buddy."

Zach is cut off as a chocolate Labrador climbs onto his legs, and he only 'awes' and sits down to pet the lab.

You sit down with him, and a white French Bulldog walks up to you.

"Oh, you're so cute." you coo, gently wrapping your hands around the bulldog who seemed to be smiling.

Zach speaks up, "Thank you!"

You look up at him and in a split second, you both break out into laughter, the two of you still petting the precious dogs.

"Oh hey!" you exclaim as a Pomeranian walks up to you, its tail wagging with speed.

Suddenly, you spot a pug walking over to Zach.

"The wrinkles, aww." you beam, watching Zach hold up the small Pug.

"Too cute."

You gleefully look up at Zach, "Zach, I can't believe you planned this."

"I knew a date would make us both happy... but when you add dogs and cats, the extra happiness makes it almost unreal." he gives you a smile, and you knew at that second that this boy had gold running through his veins.

You smile and continue to pet all the dogs, an overwhelming amount of happiness making your cheeks hurt from smiling so much.

Every negative emotion to exist in the world was completely absent in this exact moment.

You look at Zach and tell him, "You're too amazing."

He sighs with ease, not a sad sigh, but a relaxed one, "That's just you."
