The night sky some darkness sprinkled with sugar, except it held the beauty that nothing else could.
The stars glistened, the moon was vibrant and was meant to be admired, the whole view was a type of beauty that made one lose their words in seconds.
"Daniel, have you ever looked up at stars and tried seeing some image?" you ask Daniel who was sitting next to you, setting up sky lanterns.
You see him smile as he answers, "I saw a dragon once, I think it's easier with clouds though."
He proceeds to ask you, "Have you ever wanted to write a note in a bottle and leave it at the ocean?"
You think about his question for awhile, thinking about some memories from years back then answer, "Long ago, did you?"
He chuckles and nods, "I then remembered how it's practically polluting the ocean, so I never did."
You continue to assemble your lantern, enjoying his company as you both sat underneath the dark yet shimmering sky.
"These are going to be really pretty." you smile to yourself as you've gotten pretty far with the lantern, turning your head to see how far Daniel has gotten.
He catches your eye and gives you a smile, "You know... I can name something prettier."
With a small laugh, you turn your head back to your lantern to work on it, still feeling Daniel's gaze on you.
"Do we make a wish or something when we release these?" you ask him, holding out your lantern in front of you.
Daniel purses his lips and then answers, "Yes, we'll make a wish."
You grin at his answer and wonder what to wish for, many ideas running through your head.
A million dollars?
A beach house?
A continent and become the supreme ruler?
World peace?
A turtle named Steve?
"Would it be bad of me to ask what you will wish for?" Daniel interrupts your thoughts—as if he could read them.
You look up at him and shake your head, "That's pretty bad."
With a laugh, he asks you with hope of changing your mind, "You can tell me, I promise it'll still have the same chances of coming true."
"Tell me yours." You smile at him but raise your eyebrows, knowing he wouldn't.
He answers with a playful tone and a small smile, "I don't know it yet, y/n."
"Do you think if we wish for the same thing, the chances of it coming true will come true?" you ask him, which makes him begin to think about your question.
"Hmm."
He places his hand on top of yours, holding it and answers, "Only one way to find out and we'd need luck"
"Ready?" you ask him, grabbing the lighter that was lying on the ground between you two.
Excitedly he says, "Ready."
Lighting both of yours, you set the lighter back down.
"Three... two... one."
You both let go of the lanterns in sync, watching them in awe as they drifted off into the night sky with no limitations.
They gleamed, strong and shined brightly which contrasted the night beautifully.
Daniel proceeds to ask, "What'd you wish for y/n?"
Watching your lanterns fly away, you answer with a small smile, "More moments like this."
You look over at Daniel who was grinning and held joy in his face, "So did I."
