Chapter 2: Rick

A week has passed since the first day of school. Kara had grown really comfortable around the group and started opening up more to them. Alex was also growing attached to the group.

"My birthdays today, you guys wanna hang out at the bowling ally after school?" Maggie asked the group at lunch.

"Sure!" Winn said.

"I'm in." Lena added.

"We'll be there." Alex said for the both of her and Kara.

"It's at the downtown bowling alley. I reserved two lanes at 8:00pm." Maggie said.

The bell to end lunch rang and Alex, Kara, and Winn went to their next class together. Spanish... Kara LOVED spanish class. She payed attention closely to the teacher. She didn't even notice the guy talking to Alex the whole class.

"Hey." the guy said sitting next to Alex.

"Hi..." Alex said a little startled.

"The names Rick. And who might you be?" Rick asked flashing Alex a smile.

"Alex." Alex replied blushing.

"Well Alex, I don't know about the rest of the people on this class but I'm impressed."

"Impressed? By what?" Alex asked with a smirk.

"Your soccer skills! I saw you practicing the other day and as a fellow soccer player I must say, your amazing."

"Soccer season isn't until spring. You hardly know me!"

"Well I'd like to change that. How about we grab some dinner after school, my treat." Rick said flashing a smile.

"I don't know... I've already got plans."

"And those plans are more important than me?"

Alex looked at his face. For the first time she got a good look at him. She had to admit, he was hot. If she passed up this opportunity for a date with Rick would she get another chance? Maggie does have other birthdays... maybe she'll understand.

"When and where?" Alex asked with a smile.

That night Alex dressed up in a nice pair of jeans and a nice red shirt. She thought about putting on some makeup but decided against it.

"Where are you going dressed up all nice?" Kara asked walking in.

"I have a date with Rick." Alex replied.

"But what about Maggie's party?"

"She'll have more."

"Alex..."

The doorbell rang and Alex practically sprinted to it. She flew it open and saw Rick standing in the doorway.

"Wow... you look... stunning!" Rick said.

"Thanks." Alex said blushing.

"Shall we?"

Alex took her hand and they walked to his car. Kara felt like something was off about Rick but decided to leave it alone for Alex's sake. She finished up getting ready and headed towards Maggie's party. Eliza let Kara fly there since she wasn't feeling he best and couldn't drive.

Kara landed not far from the bowling ally. She looked around to make sure no one saw her land before walking in. As soon as she did walk in she was shocked. Different colored lights were flashing everywhere and loud music to go along with it. She looked around until she spotted her friends.

"Kara!" Maggie said embracing her.

"Hey! Happy Birthday!" Kara said.

"Where's Alex?"
