Alex knocked on Maggie Sawyer's door. She waited a few moments waiting for someone to answer. When no one did she took her phone out, texting Maggie.
"I'm here." Alex texted.
She looked at the last texts as she waited for a reply. It was a Sunday and Maggie had asked her for come over. Maggie had seemed upset and distressed in her texts. They were sloppy and she wasn't typing the way she normally did. Alex had immediately come over when noticing this.
Alex heard loud crashes as if glass was being broken. There were mumbled shouts before the front door swung open. Maggie stood looking frantic in the doorway.
"Alex." Maggie said opening the door.
There it was. Maggie used her first name. Something was definitely up.
"I came as soon as I saw your text. Everything okay?" Alex asked.
"Yeah- yeah. I just needed to see you." Maggie said pulling her inside.
Alex stood in the foyer looking around. Maggie's dad was sitting on the couch in the living room. A glass vase was shattered on the floor along with a table that was flipped over. She was quickly herded up to Maggie's room. Maggie practically threw Alex into a chair before locking her door.
"Sorry about that..." Maggie said glancing at Alex.
"What was... that?" Alex asked concerned.
Maggie sat on her bed sighing. She covered her face in her hands to think. Alex's first instinct was to run to Maggie's side and comfort her but for some reason she couldn't get herself to move. She stared at Maggie a bit longer before running to her side. She put her arms around Maggie trying desperately to make her feel better. When Alex put her hands on Maggie and pulled her close she lost it. She cried, burying her face deeper into Alex's neck.
"Shhh... it's okay. Everything is going to be okay." Alex comforted.
"No- no it's not." Maggie sobbed.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"No, I'm fine." Maggie said wiping tears away.
"You don't need to say that round me Maggie. I'm here for you. To listen to you and help you whenever you need me. You can trust me."
Maggie bit her bottom lip in hesitation. Finally she spoke.
"My dad... he found out I have a girlfriend." Maggie said.
"He knows I'm your-?" Alex asked.
"No. All he knows is I have A girlfriend. He has no idea who."
"But why is it such a big deal if you do?"
"He's not supportive of me being gay! Okay?!" Maggie snapped.
"Maggie I didn't mean to push-"
"No Alex! You don't understand! My life isn't as 'perfect' as yours! You don't, and will never, understand!"
Maggie jumped up and off the bed throwing her hands up. Alex could see the frustration on Maggie's face. She felt bad. She wanted to help but didn't know how. Cause the truth was, she didn't know what it was like to have an unsupportive parent. She stood up slowly approaching Maggie. Maggie glanced at Alex but said nothing. Alex once again, embraced her girlfriend. Maggie collapsed this time. They both fell to their knees as Maggie cried harder than Alex has ever seen before. Suddenly there was a bang on Maggie's door. Loud poundings soon followed.
"Margret! Open up!" the voice yelled.
Maggie gasped in fear. The door knob jiggled some more before it finally swung open. The door knob slammed into the wall making a dent. He's eyebrows furrowed in anger at the sight of Maggie and Alex embraced. Maggie quickly jumped up forcing Alex behind her.
