"Hey babe." Lena said pecking a kiss on Kara's cheek.
Kara blushed enjoying the affection. Alex, Kara, Lena, and Maggie were meeting up at their favorite pizza place on a chilly Saturday. Kara and Lena obviously sat by each other while Maggie and Alex did the same. They spent the time talking about girl stuff and how stupid boys were when the mention of a party came up.
"Our grade is hosting a beach party in like an hour. We still have enough time to go." Maggie said.
Maggie looked around for everyone's approval. Kara and Lena both shook their heads in agreement. Alex however wasn't that into parties but she agreed for her girlfriends sake. They all finished their pizza, Kara of course eating more than everyone else. Once done they all decided to walk to the beach. Sure it was a little cold and a long walk but they had the time. Cold breezes blew across Alex's face making her shiver at the cold touch. Maggie must've noticed her shivering although Alex tried to hide it.
"Here." Maggie said taking her jacket off and handing it to Alex.
"No, now your gonna be cold." Alex replied pushing the jacket away.
"Your gonna get sick Danvers."
"So are you Sawyer."
"I don't get sick. Alex, please just put it on."
That did it. Every time Maggie said Alex's first name it let her know that Maggie was being serious or passionate about something. It sent chills down her spine. Oddly, she enjoyed it sometimes. She sighed letting Maggie throw it over her shoulders. She had to admit, the moment the jacket was on her she felt warmth flood through her. She smiled gratefully at her girlfriend. They stood at the edge of the fencing looking down at the beach where loud music was playing and kids were dancing. They walked down the stairs and to the sandy beach. It was colder down there, being more exposed to the winds. Lena offered Kara a jacket but Kara graciously declined.
"Oh come on baby! It freezing and your wearing a t-shirt!" Lena cried out.
"I don't really get cold." Kara said blushing.
She want lying either. The cold just didn't bother her as much as it did to humans. Lena sighed and put her jacket back on. They soon joined the group of dancers enjoying their time.
As night fell on the young freshman the party started to calm. The music died down and the people with it. Many couples got together finding a spot on the beach to sit and watch the sun set. Maggie led Alex near a tree not far from the main road. They sat down together and Maggie laid her head down on Alex's shoulder.
Lena led Kara under a nearby tree by the stairs off the beach. As they were settling in there was screeching wheels and then a loud crash. Everyone jumped at the sound but no one moved a muscle. After a few moments of silence they resumed whatever they were doing. Kara however used her super hearing. She heard a lady screaming and a baby crying. Without hesitating she sprinted up the stairs.
"Kara!" Lena yelled confused.
When Kara didn't reply and continued up the stairs Lena followed her. She tried to keep up but Kara was just too fast.
Kara arrived on the scene. A car had completely flipped over on its side. Screams of a woman came from the driver side. Kara sprinted over, ripping the door off revealing the woman.
"M-My leg." the woman cried.
Kara ripped he seatbelt in half and dragged the woman far enough away from the car. She then turned back for the baby. She coughed as fumes filled the smoking car. The baby was hanging in the car seat by one strap. Kara carefully undid it and jumped off the big car. When she looked up she saw a crowd of her classmates that had just arrived. She spotted Lena stuck in the middle of the crowd trying to fight to the front. Alex and Maggie were in the front standing there bewildered. Kara looked back seeing fire start up.
