Kara had no idea she could feel so sore and tired. She had known she COULD feel this way on Earth. After all, she was indestructible. All cuts and most bruises had healed from the fight with the alien although some deeper bruises still lingered. But they would be gone within the day. Kara felt a tug on her arm and she turned over in her bed.
"Get up sleepy head. We have to go to school." Alex said.
"Ughhhhhhhhh." Kara replied.
"Somethings wrong with your face..." Alex said with an almost serious tone.
"What?! What's wrong?!" Kara yelled grabbing her face.
"Your not... smiling. Kara Danvers always smiles."
Kara relaxed knowing now that Alex was just joking around with her.
"Well you try fighting a giant alien." Kara replied getting out of bed.
"You know I would have if it wasn't at the school. I can't expose myself." Alex replied throwing on jeans and a white shirt with a leather jacket.
"Yeah yeah... I know."
Kara walked into her shared bathroom and looked into the mirror. Not only did she feel exhausted but she looked like it. Dark circles formed under her droopy eyes. She wasn't exactly frowning but she defiantly wasn't smiling like she normally was. Her hair was an absolute mess. And to top it all off there was a big bruise on her left cheek. Alex walked in taking in her sisters appearance once again.
"You did good yesterday. Saved a ton of lives." Alex said.
"I know, I just didn't think it'd be so exhausting." Kara replied.
"How about I make pancakes while you get dressed?"
Kara perked about at the sound of food. A smile inched it's way across her face. Alex had to laugh.
"Dork." Alex said before going to the kitchen.
Kara dragged herself into school displaying the best smile she could manage. Alex had already run off to Maggie. Normally Kara would try and find Lena but today she just wasn't feeling it. She didn't want Lena to see her like this. Kara had on a pair of blue jeans and a Nike hoodie. She did do her makeup, trying her best to hide the bruise although it didn't work as well as she hoped. As she walked through the hallway trying to avoid Lena's locker she felt a tug in her backpack. She groaned in protest as her body swung backwards and into someone's arms. The arms tightly gripped her hips a small kiss was placed on her neck. Finally the person turned her around to face them. Surprise surprise, it was the one person she was trying to avoid. Lena.
"Hey." Kara said faking a smile.
"I've been looking for you all morning. Didn't you get my texts?" Lena asked.
"Uh no, I must've forgotten my phone at home." Kara replied.
As if I'm cue a light appeared in her pocket. Kara grimaced at it, shutting her eyes tight. Please don't be too mad. Please don't be too mad. Kara opened her eyes to a concerned Lena. Lena reached into Kara's pocket and pulled out her phone.
"What's going on with you?" Lena asked with a hint of concern and anger in her voice.
"I- uh..." Kara muttered at a lose for words.
She was tucking her chin in towards her left shoulder trying to hide the bruise. Lena grabbed her chin and forced Kara to look at her. She gasped seeing all of Kara's face for the first time today. Her dirty blonde hair scattered her face. Dark circles formed under her eyes. And the most dominant feature was the dark bruises on Kara's left cheek.
