-- (Y/N)'s POV --

It was Friday night and I had a date tonight. One of those Tinder dates. I wasn't a fan of Tinder but my friends said that I needed to find a boyfriend since I was "getting old". I was only 26 so I wasn't THAT old. So, long story short I met this guy who was meeting me in this little diner right down the street from where I lived. I grabbed my keys and my purse before walking towards the diner. I kept glancing at my phone to see if the guy had texted me yet.

I got to the diner a little earlier than when we were supposed to met. I hesitated outside of the diner before walking in and sitting in a booth in the corner. I just got myself some water while I waited for my date. When time came around, my date wasn't here. I gave him some time if he was running behind. I checked my phone to see if he texted me, but he never did. Soon, I sent the guy a string of texts.

"Are you ready to order yet, ma'am? Or are you still waiting for your friend?" The waitress asked. I placed my phone down as I looked at the waitress and smiled.

"I'm still waiting. He'll be here soon..." I tried to keep the fake smile up until the waitress left. I couldn't believe that I was being stood up for a date I was looking forward to. I picked up my phone to send another text to my date before I felt someone sit in front if me. I huffed as I looked up to scold the man. Then I realized the man wasn't my date.

"I'm so sorry that I'm late. I got stuck in traffic." The male smiled. He wasn't my date at all. Maybe he felt pity for me? He then passed me his phone that had a message typed out.

My friend at the table over there texted me. He told me that your date stood you up and he thought that I would come help save the day. :) by the way, I'm Brian

"Thanks a lot, Brian... I really appreciate it." I smiled at him. He pulled his phone away and smiled.

"Can I get you anything to drink sir? And are you two ready to order?" The waitress asked. Brian quickly looked over the menu.

"I'll take a Coke and a burger and fries." Brian said. I looked down at the menu and nodded some.

"I'll have a burger and fries, too." I handed the menu over as the waitress soon left.

Brian and I talked for a bit until he told me about his career. He said that him and his friends made videos to post online and that's how he made money. Honestly, I thought what he did was interesting. I worked as a nanny for a family I've known for a few years. I helped take care of their four and two year old children in exchange of me living with them.

Brian seemed surprised by how much I love children. I told him how I've always wanted to become a teacher but I never went to university for it. Throughout dinner, Brian tried to convince me to go to university to do childcare classes. Once we finished eating, I went to pay but Brian insisted he pay. After having to sit and wait for a date that was never going to show up, it was the least he could do.

"So. Would you like to come back to my place and play some games?" Brian asked as we walked out of the small diner. I giggled some and nodded.

"I'd actually like that! I have to be home no later than half past 2. Early morning with the kids. I was taking them to the zoo." I smiled as we walked outside and towards Brian's car.

"Did you walk here?" He asked with a raised brow. I nodded some and pointed down the road.

"I only live right down there. Hard to miss the place I'm at. Biggest house in the street." I let out a laugh as Brian and I both got into his car and drove off towards Brian's house. It was only about a 10 minute drive.

"I hope you don't mind it's kind of dirty. I don't clean too often since people usually don't come over." Brian said as he walked in. I smiled some as I took my shoes off and kept them off at the door. I followed him into his living room where he had a few different gaming stations.

"Anything specific you want to play?" Brian asked. I looked over the games until I stopped on Mario Kart for the Switch.

"Mario Kart. That's one of my favorite games. The one for the SNES is my favorite." I said as I sat on the couch. Brian sat up his Switch as he handed me the controllers.

Brian and I played online and we were both dominating people in the game, always coming in first and second place. When it came to Rainbow Road, I lost my shit. I don't think I had ever been so pissed at a game in my life. After being lapped twice by Brian, I tossed the controller and crossed my arms over my chest.

"You know, you'd fit in perfectly with my friends. My one friend hates Rainbow Road so much." Brian said. I rolled my eyes as I looked at the clock on his wall.

"I should be getting home soon. Can you drive me?" I asked as I stood up. Brian nodded as he shut the system off and then got his keys. We went to his car as he began to drive me back to my house.

"I had fun with you, (Y/N). We should do this again sometime soon." Brian said as he drove down the road. I smiled and nodded quickly.

"I'd actually like that. Just don't bail on me like the last guy." I traded him. Brian chuckled as he pulled up outside my house.

"I wouldn't dream of it." Brian said as he handed me his phone. I smiled as I quickly put my number in before getting out and walking into my house.

That night, I messaged the guy on Tinder telling him how much of an asshole he was before deleting the app. Maybe Brian and I could become something. I could only hope.
