All around me was talk about war and that our men were going to have to be leaving soon. The thought of that made my stomach churn. My brother and my fiance were both registered as soldiers. I couldn't lose them. I looked towards the door and noticed both of the boys walk in while smiling. I giggled softly and walked over my Jon and kissed his cheek.
"You two seem pretty chipper! Why you so happy?" I asked the two before heading to the kitchen to finish up dinner. Luke went to sit at the table as Jon began to help me.
"That girl that Luke's been eyeing up is going on a date with him tomorrow! I'm so proud of you." Jon said as he set the table. I giggled and looked towards Luke.
"I'm so glad that you moved on from Michelle. Now, lets eat. I made honey glazed ham, potatoes, green beans, and I have made chocolate cake for desert! It was my grandma's old recipe." I said as I looked at Luke. His eyes lip up at the mention of our grandmother's chocolate cake recipe.
Once I sat down, we all prayed together before we began to dig in. The boys talked about their day at work and the girl Luke was meeting the following night. I was happy for my brother. His ex-wife left him about a year ago and I know he's been so broken over her. I'm glad that he was finally moving on. Once we all finished dinner and each had a slice of cake, I began to clean everything up and do the dishes. Luke went to the living area as Jon helped me. I looked up at him and smiled brightly. Soon, there was a knock at the door.
"I got it." Luke called from the other room. I went back to doing the dishes with Jon until Luke came over to us.
"Jon, the guy wants to talk to you, too..." Luke said. I turned to look at Luke before he walked away. Jon chuckled and kissed my forehead.
"I'll be right back, princess." Jonathan said. I nodded and went back to the dishes.
I couldn't hear the conversation but there were two men talking with Luke and Jon. All I could really pick up was the anger clearly in my fiance's voice and the mention of 'Tuesday'. I glanced at my calendar and noticed that it was in two days. I fished drying my hands and heard the door slam shut. Jon stormed off to the bedroom and slammed the door as I looked at Luke. He sighed and shook his head.
I didn't want to question it as I just moved to the bedroom. Jon was on the bed with his head in his hands. I didn't ask him anything about what happened and instead just went to bed. I couldn't sleep because Jon was up all night. I could hear him constantly shuffle around the room for awhile until he left. I shat up and noticed a bag packed by the door.
Without saying a word to me, I knew what was going on. Him and Luke were being sent off to fight in this war. I soon got out of the bed and went to find Jon. He was standing on the balcony just outside the kitchen. I walked over to him as he just looked up at the sky.
"I don't want to leave you, (Y/N). Luke isn't happy, either. You two are the only ones I have left as family." Jon said. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my face into his back.
"Come back to bed, sweetie. We can talk about it in the morning." I let out a yawn. I could feel Jon shift some as we soon went back to our room.
-- Small Time Skip --
I stood at the train station with Luke and Jon. They didn't want to leave me, but they knew they had to fight for our Country. I looked up at Luke and tightly wrapped my arms around him. Luke sighed and he pulled me close against him.
"I'll make sure I keep in contact with that girl of yours. I'm going to miss you so much, Luke." I mumbled as I slowly pulled from him. He chuckled and messed with my hair.
"Stay outta trouble, sis. I'll see you when I come back." Luke said as he soon walked off. I looked at Jon who had tears threatening his eyes.
"You have to stay strong, my soldier. I'll be waiting for you to come home. I love you, Jon." I said as I gently kissed him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close.
"I'll see you soon, (Y/N). I love you so much." Jon said before he followed after Luke. I waved them both goodbye as the train began to leave. My two soldiers.
Months has passed and Jon and I write all the time. We would send several letters a week, then they just suddenly stopped. I didn't think much about it since they were contacted on the move. It's been almost a year since Luke and Jon left and I got a letter from Luke. It said the two of them were coming home.
The day they were arriving back home I was at the train station almost all day. Train after train came brought but none had Luke or Jon on them. It was almost 4:30 when another train rolled in. I looked at every guy that came off until a noticed a familiar beard. My eyes soon reared up as I ran at my brother.
"Luke!" I shouted with tears in my eyes. Luke chuckled softly as he wrapped his arms around me.
"Hey there, sis. It's great to see you again." My brother spoke. I slowly nodded up at him. I was about to say something before I heard someone call my name behind me.
"(Y/N)? Is that you baby?" I turned around and was met with Jon's baby blue eyes. I could feel some tears streaming down my face as I ran at him.
"Jonathan!" I shouted as I jumped into his arms. He laughed as he wrapped his arms tightly around me.
"I've missed you so much baby." Jonathan said as he held me close. I never wanted him to let me go again.
"I'm so glad you're home, babe. I have a surprise for you when we get home. Oh, and I have a surprise for you, too, Luke." I said as I finally pulled away from Jon. Luke smiled as we went to my car.
We drove home while Jon and Luke kept asking me all types of questions. How I was, how Luke's girl, who I learned was Sandy, was, even how my parents were. It was great to have to boys back home, it was. I missed them both so much. I don't know what would have happened to me if i lost either or even both of them. We arrived at the apartment we all shared and I was the first to enter. Luke and Jon both looked around until Luke's eyes landed on Sandy.
"Luke! Oh my God, you're back!" Sandy ran over to him and held him tightly. I could see the tears streaming down her face. I knew she loved my brother very much.
"So, I guess that's his surprise. What's mine?" Jon asked. I giggled as I grabbed his hand and led him to our room. In the corner was a crib. Jon looked confused before I pulled a baby out.
"This here is Michael. Michael Jonathan Delirious. He's our son, Jon." I carried the infant over to his father and smiled. Jon smiled as he held his son close against him.
"That's a perfect name for our baby boy. I love you so much, (Y/N). I can't wait until you become Mrs Delirious." Jon said as he killed me. I heard a gasp from the door.
"I have a nephew!? He's so cute... He kind of look like dad when mom used to show us his baby pictures." Luke said as he gently grabbed Michael from Jonathan's hands. I nodded as I looked at the baby.
"He has Jon's baby blue eyes, though. Sandy's been helping me take care of him. How, Jon will be here to help me with our son." I gently kissed Jon's cheek. He wrapped his arm around me and smiled down at me.
"Now, let's all eat dinner! As a family." Jon said as his eyes landed on Sandy. She just smiled brightly.
"You're calling me family?!" She squealed. Both Jonathan and I laughed.
"Of course! You've helped my fiance with our baby and you make my best friend happy. You're family in my book." Jon said as we all went to the kitchen.
I was so happy to have my boys back. Both of my Brave Soldiers.
