“Hi Alyssa Honey, I’m leaving this voicemail to tell you that James, your brother, arrived in London yesterday and I gave you his number so he’s going to call you soon. I have to go, I’ll talk to you before I go back to America, Love you! Steven.”

I listened to the voicemail and debated on what to think about it. I still hadn’t given Steven my answer and no one knew. Well no one except Liam and Niall.

Niall, Liam and I were hanging out one day and I was thinking about what Steven had said. I must’ve looked torn, because Niall and Liam immediately noticed, and the whole story came out. Obviously both boys said they would be crushed if I left and that they weren’t sure the girls could handle it but they also said that they knew this was my one chance to get to know my biological dad and have a different kind of family.

I was sitting in the living room, trying to make my decision when my cell phone rang. The caller I.D was an unknown number, but I answered it nevertheless.

(on the phone)

Me: Hello?

Stranger: Hi, is this Alyssa?

A guy, from the sound of his voice, probably my age asked.

Me: Yah, I’m Alyssa. Who is this?

Stranger: Hi Alyssa, I’m James. My dad, Steven gave me your number. I’m kind of your half-brother.

Me: Yah, Steven said you’d call. It’s nice to finally talk to you.

James: You too. When dad told me he finally found you, I immediately wanted to see you. I’ve actually always wanted a sister and I’ve seen you in the newspaper and online with Harry Styles and I was really surprised.

Me: Haha, well I'm glad.

James: So what are you doing?

Me: Right now?

James: Yeah.

Me: Nothing, scrolling through tweets, and trying to find a good movie to watch.

James: I was wondering if you wanted to do something. I’m actually really busy the next few days but I’m totally free right now and I know it’s short notice, but do you want to go for ice cream or something?

Me: How about in half an hour?

James: Sure. Give me your address.

Me: 5161012 Collingwood Blvd.

James: Thanks. See you then?

Me: See you, bye.

(off the phone)

I closed my cell and sighed. I was meeting my half-brother for the first time. Totally normal right?

Just then, Annabelle walked in the living and collapsed beside me.

“Hey Bella, what’s up?” I asked.

“Nothing…life is depressing.” She sighed.

“No update on the whole Liam drama?” I asked. Liam and Annabelle had taken what they called a ‘break’ in their relationship because of a stupid fight they had had. It had been a week since they were together and surprisingly, Annabelle was all happy, for the most part.
