JAY, chapter 6

HE WOKE UP EARLY in the morning, he was surprised he felt asleep at all. Jay couldn't stop thinking about how bad Lonnie must be feeling, neither did he know what was he gonna do to save her.

After a while of thinking, he threw on his leather jacket and went to his fathers shop. He opened the door and saw Jafar standing at the desk, talking to some visitor. Seeing Jay, he said goodbye to a buyer and threw him out.

"What brings you here, my son?" Jafar asked, sneakily.

"Okay." Jay murmured.

"I can't hear you, what did you say?" Jafar teased and laughed.

"I said, Okay. I'll bring you your Snake Staff." Jay repeated, annoyed by his fathers behaviour.

"That's what I like to hear!" Jafar exclaimed. "Tomorrow. Here. Oh, and don't try tricks on me boy, I raised you, I know your mind better than anyone else."

Jay looked at him in disgust, he was disappointed by his fathers acting. He always wished Jafar would change for his son, but he was wrong. Once a villain, always a villain.

"Fine." Jay blurted out. "Snake Staff, in exchange for Lonnie."

Jafar raised his eyebrows and nodded. "Look what you're doing for a girl! I'm disappointed, son."

"You know what's worse?" Jay asked, not waiting for an answer. "I'm not even disappointed in you. I'm sorry for you."

"Watch your mouth, son!" Jafar raised his voice, angrily.

"Don't call me that. You're not my father." Jay spat and left his fathers' shop.

Jay called for a car from Auradon and went back. As soon as he got there, he was greeted by the VK's, Ben, Jane, and Audrey. They all had worried looks, especially Jane. She was super dramatic over everything.

"Carlos told us, what happened?" Ben asked Jay.

Former thief explained everything to them and told them about his deal with his father. "I need to bring him his Snake Staff."

"That is impossible." Fairy Godmother exclaimed. "Jafar's wand is very dangerous and powerful, and might even brake the barrier."

"We don't have a choice." Jay replied quickly.

"You couldn't take care of one girl!" Audrey muttered and rolled her eyes.

Jay glared at her, trying to control himself and not yell at her. "There is nothing more important to me than getting Lonnie back, right now." He hissed. "So think before you speak."

"Whatever." Audrey whispered under her breath and turned around to face Ben. "What are we gonna do Benny-Boo?" Mal gave Audrey a death glare, which Sleeping Beauty's daughter completely ignored.

Ben looked weirdly at Audrey, then shook his hand. "We'll have to do what Jafar says." Ben stated. "Lonnie is in need of our help."

Nobody said a thing.
Jay felt really bad, especially after Audrey stating the obvious. How could he let Lonnie get captured, why didn't he take care of her? Why didn't he protect her? Audrey's words kept repeating in Jay's mind over and over again and made him feel even worse.

Jay walked to his and Carlos' dorm room, soon to be followed by Mal, Evie and Carlos. They all sat around the table.

"We'll go to the Isle together and get Lonnie back." Evie said after a long awkward silence.

"I think it should be just Jay." Mal said.

"You're right." Jay agreed. "I messed this up, I'll have to put it back."

"We'll be here when you two get back." Carlos assured and patted Jay on the shoulder.

Mal and Evie left boys' dorm room and complete silence took over. Jay laid on his bed, facing the wall. Carlos did try to talk to him but he's attempts were unsuccessful. Jay was too deep into thinking about his father, Max, Hedda and Seth, Lonnie and the Snake Staff.

"What's new on the Isle?" Carlos asked once again, this was his final attempt of trying to get Jay talk.

"Nothing." Jay answered shortly. "Did you know Hedda, Seth and Max were helping my dad?"

"How would I know that?" Carlos replied. "What are they doing for him?"

"Lonnie said they were the ones who captured her." Jay explained and turned around to face Carlos, who was sitting on his bed, with laptop in his lap. "I think they might be filling his shop as well..."

"Are you jealous?" Carlos asked and regretted when Jay glared at him. But suddenly, his glare turned into something else.. something softer. Sadness.

"I'm not jealous, it's just that- ugh, yeah, I guess I am a little bit jealous." Jay admitted and looked down. "You know he's my dad, I can't just forget him or, let alone, hate him."

"Yeah but Jay, he took Lonnie just to get you to bring his Snake Staff back. He turned against you, for power." Carlos said and caused Jay to get a bit mad.

"Don't you understand?" Former thief asked and sat up on his bed. "You know, you miss your mother too."

"I do. But I can't let everything that has happened slip away like it's nothing. Jay, my own mother, treated me like a slave. She made me do everything for her and I had to sleep on a wardrobe floor. She never cared about me. I mean, yeah, she's my mother and she kinda loves me, but is it enough? I couldn't and will never be able to understand what kind of love does she give." Carlos said, more to himself than to Jay. It felt like he wanted to get this off of his chest.

"I understand." Jay nodded quietly.
He knew at some point, Carlos was right. After all, his life wasn't perfect either. Jafar would never allow Jay to rest or have fun with friends, he only wanted him for his shop. They had to fight over food at dinner time. Jafar never showed any mercy towards Jay, he was very strict and never allowed a mistake. Jay wasn't even allowed to have friends, he was supposed to be number one at everything. And when Jafar was desperate, he threatened his own son just to get whatever he wanted. He raised his son as a thief and Jay was not proud of it. "You're right."
